一、表示“在...的上面或表面”
onthedesk在桌上Theinkhasspiltonthedesk.墨水撒在桌子上了。
onthestreet=inthestreet在街上Imetherbychanceonthestreet.我恰巧在街上遇到了她。
onthetree（水果长）在树上Mostoftheapplesonthetreehaveripened.树上的苹果大多已经成熟。
inthetree（人或动物）在树上Alittlebirdwassinginghappilyinthetree.小鸟在树上快乐地歌唱。

二、表示时间：
星期、日期、周末、具体某一天的上午/下午/晚上/夜里

三、表示在某公共节日
onChildrensDay在儿童节IoftengotothezooonChildrensday.我在儿童节经常去动物园。

四、表示方位：
（外部接壤）
ontheleft/right在左边/右边Theoddnumbersareontheleftasyouwalkupthestreet.
沿这条街走，在左边的是单号。
onthenorthof...在北边Shandongisonthenorthofjiangsu.山东与江苏北毗邻。
五、表示"关于"=about
abookonhistory一本关于历史的书SheisreadingabookonAmericanhistory.她正在读一本关于美国历史的书。
onfeeding关于护理Thelongestchapterinalmostanybookonbabycareisonfeeding.几乎所有关于婴儿护理的书籍中内容最多的一章都是喂养。
六、表示"在开着""在放映中"
Themovieison.电影在放映中。
TheTVison.电视是开着的。
Thelightison.灯是开着的。
七、表示"乘、坐、骑"
onthetrain坐火车Youreoldenoughtotravelonthetrainbyyourself.你长大了，能一个人坐火车了。
ontheplane坐飞机
Ontheplanehewroteinhisjournal.他在飞机上写日记。
onahorse骑马Whenyousitonahorse,yousitonthehousesback.当你骑马，你骑在它背上。

八、表示"处于...状态中"

九、表示"在...的边上"

十一、表示"在...组队里""是...的成员"（有是也可以用in表示）

十二、常用带有on的固定词组
