Inrecentyears,whileglobalgrowthhassloweddown,China-UKinvestmentandbusinesscooperationhaskeptgrowing.TheUKhasbecometheEU'ssecondlargestinvestorinChinaaswellasChina'ssecondlargesttradingpartnerandinvestmentdestinationintheEU.ChinahasbeentheUK'ssecondlargestnon-EUtradingpartner.In2014,China-UKtradevolumeforthefirsttimeexceeded80billionU.S.dollars,andChina'simportfromtheUKhasdoubledinfiveyears.Two-wayinvestmentbetweenChinaandtheUKhasgrownrapidly.China'sinvestmentintheUKhasrisenatanannualrateof71.7percentoverthepastthreeyears.Lastyear,theUKinvestmentinChinaincreasedby87.6percentyear-on-year,thefastestamongmajorEUcountries.
TheBritishgovernmenthasintroducedambitiousplansonupgradinginfrastructure,buildingtheNorthernPowerhouseinthenorthofEnglandandimplementingthestrategyofUKIndustry2050.Theseplansandthe"RoadandBeltInitiative"andtheinitiativesof"MadeinChina2025"and"InternetPlus"undertakenbyChinacomplementeachotherinmanyways.ChinaisreadytopartnerwiththeUKinthespiritofinclusiveness,openingupandseekingwin-winprogressthroughcooperationtoupgradeandexpandcooperationtodelivermorebenefitstoourtwopeoples.
