Globalization–theprocessthroughwhichtheworld’seconomyisbecomingoneinterdependentsystem–bringswithitbothadvantagesanddisadvantages.Ontheplusside,globalizationhasincreasedthestandardoflivingofbillionsofpeopleandhashelpedtocreateenormouswealthinmanydifferentpartsoftheglobe.Ontheotherhand,therearemanypeoplewhohavenotsharedinthebenefitsofglobalization,andsomecriticsbelievethatglobalizationhasbothhurtlessdevelopedcountriesanddestroyedordamagedtheuniqueculturesthatexistindifferentpartsoftheworld.

Globalizationhasalsoledtosuchahighdegreeofinterdependencethatnomajorcountry’seconomyisimmunefromwhathappensintherestoftheworld.Therecessionof2008-2009demonstratedthisfactonceagain:
