SamuelLanghorneClemens,whoisbetterknownallovertheworldasMarkTwain,leftschoolwhenhewastwelve.Hehadlittleschooleducation.However,hestillbecamethemostfamouswriterofhistime.Hemademillionsofdollarsbywriting.

MarkTwainwasbornin1835andhewasnotahealthybaby.Infact,hewasnotexpected（期望）tolivethroughthefirstwinter.Butwithhismother'scare,hemanagedtosurvive.Asaboy,hecausedmuchtroubleforhisparents.Heusedtoplayjokesonallhisfriendsandneighbors.Hedidn'tliketogotoschool,andheoftenranawayfromhome.HealwayswentinthedirectionofthenearbyMississippi.Hewasnearlydrowned（淹没）ninetimes.

Oneareathathasbenefitedhugelyisthecarindustry.“Inacarplant,avehicleisproducedeveryminute,andapproximately1,000carsaremadeaday,”saidAdolfoSuarezRoos,theAirbusGroupexpertwhoworkswithroboticsontheFrenchNationalResearchAgencyprojectICARO.Ontheproject,robotsareabletohelpworkerswithrepetitivetasks.

Suarezishopefulthesamesuccesscanbeenjoyedwhilemakingplanes.Butgiventhatroboticsisn’taswidelyused,thechallengesareverydifferent.“Whenmakingcars,arobothas40secondstodoitsjobandthecompleteprogrammingtasktakesaboutamonth,”hesaid.“AtAirbus,weproduce1.5aircraftperday,sowehavetolookattasksthatwilllastseveralhours.Weneedmobilerobotsandaverysimplewaytoprogramtherobot.”

AtCranfieldUniversity,theEPSRCCentreinIntelligentAutomationistryingtomakethisarealityforflight.Animportantpartoftheworkisunderstandinghowtaskscanbedividedbetweenindustrialrobotsandhumanoperatorstomakeuseoftheskillsofboth.Whenmanandmachineareworkingtogetheroverlongperiodsoftime,engineersarelookingathowhumancanimprovetherobotortherobotcanimprovethehuman.

Theproject,calledFuturassy,lastyearbeganintroducingtherobotstoperformtheprocessesthatcouldbeusedacrossothersitesbyAirbus,anaircraftcompany.
