SamuelLanghorneClemens,whoisbetterknownallovertheworldasMarkTwain,leftschoolwhenhewastwelve.Hehadlittleschooleducation.However,hestillbecamethemostfamouswriterofhistime.Hemademillionsofdollarsbywriting.

MarkTwainwasbornin1835andhewasnotahealthybaby.Infact,hewasnotexpected(期望)tolivethroughthefirstwinter.Butwithhismother'scare,hemanagedtosurvive.Asaboy,hecausedmuchtroubleforhisparents.Heusedtoplayjokesonallhisfriendsandneighbors.Hedidn'tliketogotoschool,andheoftenranawayfromhome.HealwayswentinthedirectionofthenearbyMississippi.Hewasnearlydrowned(淹没)ninetimes.

Afterhisfather'sdeath,MarkTwainbegantoworkforaprinter(印刷厂),whoonlyprovidedhimwithfoodandclothing.Then,heworkedasaprinter,ariver-boatpilot(引航员)andlaterjoinedthearmy.Butsoonafterthathebecameaminer.Duringthisperiod,hestartedtowriteshortstories.Afterwards(后来)hebecameafull-timewriter.

Anewtypeofrobotcouldhelpindustriestocutcostsandmakebetterproducts.

Oneareathathasbenefitedhugelyisthecarindustry.“Inacarplant,avehicleisproducedeveryminute,andapproximately1,000carsaremadeaday,”saidAdolfoSuarezRoos,theAirbusGroupexpertwhoworkswithroboticsontheFrenchNationalResearchAgencyprojectICARO.Ontheproject,robotsareabletohelpworkerswithrepetitivetasks.

Suarezishopefulthesamesuccesscanbeenjoyedwhilemakingplanes.Butgiventhatroboticsisn’taswidelyused,thechallengesareverydifferent.“Whenmakingcars,arobothas40secondstodoitsjobandthecompleteprogrammingtasktakesaboutamonth,”hesaid.“AtAirbus,weproduce1.5aircraftperday,sowehavetolookattasksthatwilllastseveralhours.Weneedmobilerobotsandaverysimplewaytoprogramtherobot.”

AtCranfieldUniversity,theEPSRCCentreinIntelligentAutomationistryingtomakethisarealityforflight.Animportantpartoftheworkisunderstandinghowtaskscanbedividedbetweenindustrialrobotsandhumanoperatorstomakeuseoftheskillsofboth.Whenmanandmachineareworkingtogetheroverlongperiodsoftime,engineersarelookingathowhumancanimprovetherobotortherobotcanimprovethehuman.

Theproject,calledFuturassy,lastyearbeganintroducingtherobotstoperformtheprocessesthatcouldbeusedacrossothersitesbyAirbus,anaircraftcompany.
