  TheOlympicGames,whichoriginatedinancientGreece,isthemostdistinguishedsportingeventintheworld.Onceeveryfouryears,theutmostathletesfromallaroundareluredtogathertogetherandsparenoeffortstocompeteagainsteachotherandtrytowinamedalforthecountrythattheyrepresent.Franklyspeaking,thatwasvirtuallyallIknewabouttheworld-famousOlympicGamesbeforeIhadreadabookentitledTheOlympicspublishedbyForeignLanguageTeachingandResearchPress.However,Ifoundevenmorephilosophybeyondjustwinningmedalsfromreadingthebook,whichwasbeyondmyimaginationandconsiderablyinspiring.

  Someoneoncesaid,“Wereeverybodyonearthinvolvedinsomekindofsport,ourworldwouldbefreeofwarforlong.”Startingfromthreethousandyearsago,theancientOlympicGameshaslongbeenaneventnotonlyforcompetitionbutalsoforpeace.Inancienttimes,nowarwasallowedbetweenthecitiesduringtheGames,whichwasrathersurprisingtomesinceIcouldhardlyimaginewarriorsactallyputtingdowntheirweaponsandgiveabreakforpeace.Theprecioustraditionofpeacecontinued:

  Thereisanotherstoryinthisbookthatmakesmedeepinthoughts.ThereisnodoubtthatthemostunusualOlympicGameseverinhistoryisthe1936OlympicsheldinGermany,whichwasthenruledbytheNaziParty.LedbyAdolfHitler,theNazibelievedthattheso-calledAryanpeopleweresuperiortoallothersinallaspects.TheylookeddownuponJewsandblacks,thelatterofwhichwasamajorconstitutionoftheUnitedStatesOlympicteam.Despitethebarrierthatfacedhim,theAfricanAmericanJesseOwens,whowasamostoutstandingrunnerandjumper,didallthathecouldandfinallywongoldmedalsforhiscountryandwenthomeahero.ThisrevealsanotherfactthatnopoweronearthisabletohinderthesacredOlympicGames.Forallparticipants,nomatterwhattheirgender,race,nationalitiesandbackgroundsare,equalityisdistributedamongeveryonewhoobservestheGame’srules.
