TheDifferencesbetweenChineseEducationandWesternEducationTheComparisonofCollegeEducationbetweenChinaandUSNowadays,everycountrypaysgreatattentiontoeducation.Resultfromtheideathatscienceandtechnologymakethecountrystronger,everygovernmentinvestsalargedealofmoneyoneducation,sodoesChinesegovernment.Butwiththefastdevelopmentofeconomic,Chineseeducationsystemisstillincompletecomparedwithwesterneducationsystem.TheresearchofthedifferencesbetweenChineseeducationandwesterneducationisbeneficialforChinatodevelopabettereducationsystem.Chineseeducationsystemisreforming.While,howtoreformcantakeabreakthroughisverythesubject.Asisoftenthecase,westernchildrencanlearnhappilyandeasilyachievesuccessaftergraduation.ButChinesechildrenusuallyhatelearningandnotwillingtogotoschool,andevenifsomecanachievesomethingintheirfield,theyoftenarecriticizedtowithnothespiritofinnovation.Whywesternchildrenaremorelikelytobesucceeded?
Thispaperwilldiscussitfromthefollowingthreeaspects:
schooleducation,familyeducationandtheinfluenceofsocialenvironment.SchoolEducationWesterneducationisakindoftrialeducation,allowingstudentstrytodovariousexperimentsontheirown,accumulatesomeexperiencesintheprocessofsolvingthedifficultiesandfinally,drawtheconclusion,whichwillreallybelongtohisorherown.Onthecontrast,Chineseeducationisakindofforce-feedingeducation,tellingthestudentswhatistherightansweratfirst,thenlettingthestudentsoperateexactlyaccordingtothesuccessfulexperiencesstep-by-step.Thebiggestdifferencebetweenthetwomodesisthatwesterneducationfocusonstudents.Itstarsfromhumaninstinct,whichaccordwithlearningtheories.However,Chineseeducationisakindof“production”educationaimedatgoingstraighttotherightwayandeliminatingthewrongidea.Ittreatsstudentsasproducts,hopingthatgoodproductionwillbedeliveredintheproductionlineinsteadofdefectiveones.Itisnotwillingtobefaceduptotheregularitythatlearningcanmakemistakes.Thiseducationwaywillleadtostudentlackofcreativethinking.Inwesterncountry,theteachersencouragestudentsthefreedomofthoughtsandbeingresponsiblefortheirwordsanddeeds.Teachersusuallyplaytheroleofguiding.Asinclassroom,theywilldiscusstheproblemsthatstudentsmeetduringtheirexperimentslikefriends.InChina,itistakenforgrantedthatthestudentlistentotheteachersandtakenotesintheclassroom.Neverwillthestudentsdoubtthecorrectnessoftheanswersonthetextbooksorthattheteachershavegiventhem.FamilyEducationWesternparentspaymuchattentiontochildrensownexercise.Insteadofdesigningthefuturefortheirchildren,theyvaluethefreedevelopmentofchildrenandtrytheirbesttomakethemdevelopintoasocialpersonthatcanadapttovariouskindsofenvironmentandhavetheabilitytosurviveinthisseveresociety.Theyhopethatthroughtheirfamilyeducation,theirchildrencandevelopapioneeringspiritandbeabletorelyonthemselves.ManyChineseparentsareoverambitious.Theyoftenasktheirchildrentodowhatevertheywant.Howeverinmanycases,theirchildrencannotreachwhattheirparentswantbecausetheirparentshighdemandisbeyondtheiractuallevel.Whattheparentscaremostisstudyofthechildren.Mostofthembelievethatifstudywell,everythingiswell.Incomparison,theabilityofliveindependently,mentalhealthandsocialadaptationareignored.Whenitcomestoeducation,westernparentsthinkthathappyeducationisofmostimportance.Ononeside,parentsoftendiscussproblemswiththeirchildren.Ontheotherside,theirchildrenarealsowillingtotalktotheirparentswhentheymeetdifficulties.Theresearchofpsychologyshowsthatpsychologicalhealthisveryimportantforthechildrenssuccess.WhileinChina,parentsshowtheirconcerntotheirchildrenbasicallyonphysiologicalneeds,theyconcernlittletothechildrenspsychologicalneeds.Inaconsiderabledegree,thiskindofeducationresultsinthechildrenslowpsychologicalbearabilityandthechildrencannotaffordthestressinhislife.Fromthesecomparisons,wecanseethecontrastbetweenwesternandChineseeducation.Therearesignificantdifferences.WhatwesternparentscareisthatChineseparentsignore.Westernparentsteachchildtoclimbfromwherehefalls,correctwhathasbeendonewrongbyhimself,encouragetheirchildrentobeagreatdreamerandbecomewinnersintheirmind.Chineseparentsmaylearnfromthem.SocialEnvironmentalInfluenceWhatChineselackmostistheresponsibilityeducation.IntheUnitedStates,itiscommontoseeanadultwhoisdoingsomethingwrongorhassomebadbehaviorseducatesachildwhilethechildisnottheadultsownkid.TheAmericanstreateverychildastheirownchild,anditi
