TheonlydisappointmentforHowardCartercamewhenhefoundthatKingTut'sbodywasnothingbutdust.Apparentlyamistakehadbeenmadewhentheking'sremainsweremummified(使成木乃伊).Carterdid,however,find143piecesofjewelrywithinthemummycase,mostlymadeofgoldandpreciousstones.
Actually,despiteallthepublicityabouttheremarkablefindsinhistomb,Tutankhamen'sreign(统治时期)aspharaohwasshortandrelativelyuneventful(太平的).Hediedwhenhewasjust18yearsold.
