IthinkI’velostit.”Thenextdayshewenttothelibrarianandsaidtoher,“I’mverysorry.Iborrowedahistorybookfromthelibrarylastweek.ButIcan’tfindit.IthinkI’velostit.”

  “Don’tworry.You’llfindit,”saidthelibrarian.

  SeveraldayslaterGrandmacametothelibrarytoborrowsomemorebooks.Thelibrarianaskedher,“Haveyoufoundthebook?

”“Notyet.I’velookedforiteverywhere,butIstillcan’tfindit.”

  “Don’tworry.Someonewillprobablyfinditandreturnitsoonerorlater.”Afewdayslater,thebookwasstillmissing.Whatwasworse,Grandmalostmorebooks.Shewasworriedandsowasthelibrarian.“I’mafraidI’llhavetopayforthelostbooks,”saidGrandmasadly.

Ididn’tquiteunderstandhowtheygotthebooksbacksoquicklyuntilIpickedupabookGrandmahadleftoneday.Iopenedthebookandfoundabookmark.Itsaid,“Ifyoufindthisbook,pleasereturnittotheschoollibrary.Thereyoucangetanicepresentfromthelibrarian.Thankyou.”

SURFING

  Surfingisoneoftheworld’smostpopularwatersports.ItfirststartedontheislandsofHawaii.Nowitisenjoyedbypeopleallovertheworld.Hawaiiisfamousforitsbeautifulbeaches.Everyyear,watersports,especiallyswimmingandsurfing,attractlargenumbersoftouriststotheislands.

  WaikikiisoneofthebestbeachesforsurfinginHonolulu.Itisneithertoohotnortoocoldalltheyearround.Thewaterisveryclear.Thewavesareveryhigh.Nomatterwhattheweatherislike,youcanalwaysfindsurfersoutridingthewaves.

  Thereisabigdifferencebetweenserioussurfersandtheso-called“beachboys”.Serioussurfersaremuchstrongerandthinnerthanbeachboys.Theylivetosurfandnothingcanstopthem.Theysurfthreetimesadayifpossible,inbothwinterandsummer.

  Forexample,JackBooth,a21-year-oldman,gaveuphisjobintheSanFranciscolibraryayearago.HehasbeeninHonolulueversince.Inthemorningheworksasapart-timeassistantinasurfshop.Atnightheworksinarestaurantasawaiter.Hehasnothadanightofffortwomonths,buthestillfeelshappy.
