【辨析】when与whattime
when
意为“什么时候”,可对年、月、日及时刻进行提问或者询问某一动作发生的时间
whattime
意为“几点”,用以询问具体的时间,如几点几分

onMay2nd中的介词on可以省略,May2nd意为“五月二日”,在表示日期时,要注意以
下几点:
在美式英语中,记载方法是按月、日、年的顺序,“日”与“年”中间要用逗号隔
开,书写时“日”可以写成序数词形式,也可直接写成阿拉伯数字形式,但读时一定读作序
数词。

在英式英语中,记载方法是按日、月、年的顺序,其他同上面所讲相同。

1、when引导的特殊疑问句
1.when为疑问副词,常用来询问时间,意为“什么时候”。
Whenissb.’sbirthday?
是用来询
问某人生日是何时的常用句型,意为“……的生日是什么时候?
”其答语为:
Sb.’s
birthday/It’s+日期,这里sb.’s要用形容词性物主代词或名词所有格。
—Whenisherbirthday?
她的生日是什么时候?
—HerbirthdayisonAugust9th.她的生日是8月9日。
2.名词所有格表示“某人的”,通常是“名词+’s”。
2、序数词
1.概念:
表示事物的顺序的数词叫做序数词,它的作用相当于名词或形容词。
2.构成:
(1)变异类:
one→first第一;two→second第二;three→third第三。
(2)普通类:
第四至第十九均在相应的基数词后加-th,但第五(fifth)和第十二(twelfth)
均把基数词five和twelve词尾的ve改为f,再加-th。
基数词eight的序数词,直接在后加-h,
即eighth。
基数词nine的序数词,将词尾的e去掉,再加-th,即ninth。
(3)“ty类”:
即以“ty”结尾的整十的序数词是把对应基数词的最后一个字母y变成i,
再加-eth。
如:
twenty→twentieth;forty→fortieth
(4)几十几类:
表示“几十几”的基数词变序数词时,只将个位变成序数词,十位数不变。
如:
twenty-three→twenty-third
【注意】序数词的前面往往加定冠词the,但当序数词前有物主代词、指示代词等修饰时,则
不必加the。
3、时间介词on,in与at辨析
1.on常用在表示星期几或具体某一日及某一日的上午、下午或晚上的名词前。
如:
onMay4th在五月四日
2.in常用在年、月、季节、世纪及表示泛指上午、下午或晚上的名词前。
如:
inMarch在三月;inthemorning在早上
3.at常用在表示某一具体时刻的名词前。
如:
atten在十点;atnoon在正午
