Scientistsinthe1950sproclaimedtherobotthebrainwaveofthefuture—itwouldfreehousewivesofdrudgeryandfillfactorieswithatirelessworkforce.Butinmanyways,thebrainwavehasbeenawashout.

Robotscanpaintcars,salvagenuclearfuelandevenassistinbrainsurgery,butthey’restillprettydumb.
