Abstract
ChineseFolkWisecracksareanindispensablepartofChineselanguageandculture.Asasortoflanguagethatiswidelyspokenbylaboringandworkingpeople,ChineseFolkWisecracksareusedtoexpresstheirthoughtsorfeelingsduringpracticeintheirlives.Theyareknownforliveandfunnyexpressionswhichshowusthousandsofyears’historyandenableustoacquiresomeusefulinformationandfactsofourcountry’spolitics,economyaswellaspeople’sdailylife,feelings,theirviewoftheworldandlife.TodaycommunicationsamongdifferentnationsaremorefrequentandtheChineselanguageandculturearemoreandmorepopulartoforeignersintheworldaswearemovingtowardsglobalization.ThereforehowtomaketheChineseFolkWisecracksfamiliartoforeignersbecomeextremelyimportant.ThisthesisattemptstoputforwardsometranslatingstrategiesoftheChineseFolkWisecracksafteracomprehensiveandsoundanalysisofthelanguagecharacteristicsandclassificationsinordertomakeitnotonlyappropriateintranslationbutalsounderstandabletotheforeignersandconducivetomaketheChineselanguageandculturewellknownallaroundtheworld.

摘要
歇后语是中国语言和文化中不可或缺的一部分。
歇后语在我国广大劳动人民中广为流传,是人们长期生活实践中产生的用来表达其思想和情感的一种俗语。
歇后语以其诙谐幽默的表达而广受人们的喜爱,它为我们展示了中国数千年的历史,丰富了我们对我国政治,经济以及人们的日常生活和情感,世界观和人生观等方面的知识。
如今,随着我们不断迈向全球化,各国间的交流也变地日渐频繁,汉语及中国文化也越来越受到世界各地的人们的喜爱。
因此,如何使外国人熟悉歇后语变得十分重要。
这篇论文在分析了汉语歇后语的语言特点及其分类的基础上,进而提出了相应的翻译策略,力求做到在恰当翻译的同时,也能使外国读者易于理解从而使得更多人都能够了解中国的语言和文化。

Withthedevelopmentofeducationandscienceandtechnology,internationalcommunicationandcooperationismoreandmorefrequentineconomy,politicsandculture,inwhichCulturalexchangesisespeciallyinevitable.
Languageandcultureisinfiltratingtheotherfusedwitheachother,organiccombined.AsakindofthemosttypicalidiomsinChinesenation,ChineseFolkWisecracksarenaturallyanimportantbranchofChineseculture,whichisanorallanguagewidelyspokenbyworkingpeople.Theyhaveacloserelationshipwithhistoricalbackground,economiclife,geographicalenvironment,customs,habits,psychologicalstateandsoon(Fernando,2000:
78).Insomesense,idiomsarelikemirrors,reflectingthefeaturesofnationalcultureandaestheticandcustomsoflanguageinprofoundmanners(Kramshch,2000:
82).
Inordertoexpresspeople’sthoughtsduringtheirlong-termpracticeintheirlives,ChineseFolkWisecrackshavemanycharacters,includingliveliness,popularity,implicitnessandhumor,etc.SomeChineseFolkWisecracksarefullofimaginationandsomecontaintheimplicationofstrongirony.Inaword,theyareanartisticformlikedbyallofthepeople.TheChineseFolkWisecrackshaveaninfluenceonthelanguagebymethodsofmetaphor,simileandpunandsoon;
andfamousliteraryworksareoftenusedinthey.Meanwhile,theirspeciallanguageformandethnicpropertyleadtofailuresintheprocessoftranslation.Therefore,thestudyofthetranslationofChineseFolkWisecracksareespeciallyimportantanduseful.
ManyscholarshavepaidattentiontothetranslationoftheChineseFolkWisecracks.Andtheyputforwardsometranslationstrategiestostudythem.
ResearcherssuchasLiYanbo(2006),LiXingjian(2011),havemadestudiesofdefinition,origin,natureandrhetoricdevicesofChineseFolkWisecracksandexpresstheirownthought.WangJinzheng(1997)supposedthattheChineseFolkWisecracksincludethreetypesaccordingtosyntacticstructureafteranalysingtherhetoricandgrammaticalstructure,.
FengQinghua(1997)presentedthatthetranslationoftheChineseFolkWisecracksshouldbefigurativeandadoptedvariousforms,andtheliberaltranslationisnotenough.
HuangYahui(2006),ayoungscholar,thoughtthatforeignizationwasagoodtranslationmethodtotranslateChineseFolkWisecracks,butsometimestheycontainedculturalelementsandbackground,whichtargetreadersareextremelystrange.
Basedonthestudiesabove,thisthesistriestoproposesometranslationstrategiesoftheChineseFolkWisecracksonthebasisofsoundandsystematicanalysisofclassificationsandlanguagecharacteristicsoftheChineseFolkWisecracksinordertomakeitnotonlyappropriateintranslationbutatthesametime,understandabletotheforeigners.Thisthesis’sinquiryintothetranslationoftheChineseFolkWisecrackswillbeconducivetothespreadofourChinesecultureandfurtherpromotetheinterculturalcommunicationsmoothlyandmaketheChineselanguageandcultureworld-known.

ChineseFolkWisecracksareheavilyculturallyloadedphrasesandsentences.Theyarepervasiveinspeechesandwritings.Havingtheirownuniquefeatures,ChineseFolkWisecracksaretheeliteoflanguageinourcountry.Asasortoflanguagewidelyspokenbylaboringandworkingpeople,ChineseFolkWisecracksareusedtoexpresstheirthoughtsorfeelingsduringpracticeintheirlives.Theyareknownfortheirliveandfunnyexpressions.
2.1LanguageCharacteristicsofChineseFolkWisecracks
ChineseFolkWisecracks,asaparticulartypeofcommonsayingsinChinese,distinguishthemselvesfromtheotheronesinthematteroftheirspeciallanguagefeatureslikehumor,implicitnessandfigurativeness.
2.1.1Humor
ChineseFolkWisecracksareakindofidioms,alanguageunit,whichareorallyspokenandspreadandalsopopularamongthecommonpeople.Theyarethesortofidiomswhicharemosthumorouscomparedwithproverbs,setphrases,maximsandaphorisms;
thusfullydeservethetitle“TheKingofHumor”.Forexample,

Thesetwoexamplesarebothhumorous.ThefirstpartsofthesetwoChineseFolkWisecrackstakeonsenseofhumorbecauseoftheirfunnyorextraordinaryactionsorsubstances,forinstance,“电线杆上绑鸡毛”(totiefeathersonthepole)isanactionthatquitefunnyandimpractical.Besides,“掸”(duster)and“胆”(dare)arehomophonesinChineseand“好大的胆子”(Howdareit),whichiscynicalandhumorousandisusuallyusedtodescribethatone’sbehaviorisinappropriate.Thesecondexample“猪八戒戴耳环”(ZhuBajiewearstheearrings)islaughable,whichimpliesevenifhewearstheearringsforornamentheisstillugly,resultinginironicandhumorouseffect.Andwhenthetwofolkwisecracksusedinthecertainessaysorconversations,humorcanbeproducedcorrespondinglyastheirconnotativemeaningsareinconsistencewiththecontextsorsituations.
SoitisobviousthattheseexamplesofChineseFolkWisecracksarequitehumorousandinteresting.Nowonderpeoplearefondofthemandoftenusetheminconversationsandliteraryworks.
2.1.2Implicitness

orinotherwords,theresultsofthingsarealwaysunsatisfactory.
Here“书”(book),homophonesfor“输”(failure),isusedtomaketherealmeaningnotsoapparent.Peoplejustcannotacquiretheconnotativemeaningonlyintheliterallevel,thatis,itisfilledwithimplicitness.
2.1.3Figurativeness
Apartfromhumorandimplicitness,mostoftheChineseFolkWisecracksarealsovividinimageandeasyforpeopletounderstandandmemorize,callingpeoplefordeepthought.Toindicatethemeaning,ChineseFolkWisecracksusethelivelyandspecificimagerytomakeametaphorsoastogivepeopleafigurativeimpression;
asaconsequence,peopleareabletocomprehendthemetaphoricmeaningwithoutdifficultyandgetrevelationfromit.Figurativene
