我知道政治竞选有时看起来很微不足道，甚至很傻。

但是如果你有机会和拥挤在高中体育馆警戒线外参加竞选活动的人们谈话，或者见到偏远县城竞选办公室中工作至深夜的人们，你会有截然不同的体会。

这就是我们一切行动的缘由。

这就是政治能做到的事情。

这也是竞选之所以重要的原因。

事无细微，这些都是大事，是重要的事。

在一个3亿人口的国家里，民主的观点嘈杂、混乱而复杂。

我们都有自己的观点，我们都有自己深深的信仰。

当我们经历艰难时刻，做出国家统一抉择时，自然会激发热情与冲突。

生、科学家、工程师、企业家还是外交家，甚至是总统——这是我们希冀的未来，是我们共同的设想，是我们需要到达的方向。

现在，有时我们在如何实现这个目标上有激烈的分歧，两个世纪以来，进步会在恰当的时候到来，它不是一帆风顺、直线前行的。
