Zhangestimatedthatthird-tiercitiesaccountedforamajorpartofChineseresidents’50trillionyuanwealthgains,drivenbyrisinghomepricesin2017.
“Despitearelativelylargeincreaseinhomepricesinthird-tiercities,studieshavefoundthatattheendof2017,localresidentsin85third-tiercitiesneedtosavefourtoeightyearsoftheirincometobuyahome,meaningthathousepricetoincomeratiosarenottoohighinthesecities,”hesaid.
