负责弹奏主音吉他的前任吉他手邓炜谦便把乐队之名命为“Beyond”，意为超越，并不是要超越别人，而是要超越自己。

风格：

叛逆为主的摇滚。

2004年11月宣布因三人音乐理念，对香港乐坛不满等问题，决定于翌年举办巡回演唱会后正式解散。

2005年Beyond举行了“BeyondTheStoryLive005”世界巡回告别演唱会并宣布解散，三人继续以个人的姿态发展自己的音乐事业。

6月24日，Beyond在东京富士电视台录制节目时，家驹不慎从舞台上跌落成重伤，昏迷不醒；

6月30日下午16时15分，家驹永远地离开了大家。

当尸体运回香港时，歌迷失控了，跟着灵车嚎啕大哭，几年之后，在祭日时仍有人想起当年演唱会的情景还会哭，为什么会有这么高的人气，这么多人崇拜他。

因为黄家驹的音乐历程与众不同，不像现在有些星二代，从小锦衣玉食有人教育，靠着爹的名气升的很快。

当年家里没人干这个，怀着对音乐的理想，《不再犹豫》，靠着两手向理想挥手。

最开始的乐队里，黄家驹天分并不好，谈两个音符就错了，乐队里有个吉他好的人就鄙视他，让他走，他并没有放弃，没有翻脸，而忍辱负重，“纵有创伤不退避”，回家苦练吉他。

长时间弹吉他第一手指会磨得厉害，得戴东西，二就是会真的肿了，他就一盆热水加盐练就了一手绝好的吉他。

后来自己组建beyond乐队，为了在无人认可的情况下开演唱会，他做了各种兼职，包括发传单，推销，擦皮鞋，捡垃圾。

卖票和租场地，挂横幅，都得自己干。

同时个人也做出了牺牲，《喜欢》因为害怕玩band连累女友而分手。

演唱会赔钱，赚人气，有唱片公司看上了该乐队，你们创作我出钱。

因为歌曲《大地》一夜成名。

划时代意义的经典歌曲，开创了流行歌曲的非情歌时代。

成名之后，仍然坚持创作之路，而没有变得低俗，仍然心态平和。

《真的爱你》报答当年母亲的钱?

不同于很多歌手，成名之后只关注自己，他是个很有爱心的人，成立了第三世界基金会，并去非洲访问贫民，《光辉岁月》，是家驹为南非第一位黑人总统曼德拉致敬所写的，反对种族歧视，希望世界和平，一直是Beyond的心愿。

Beyond也开始一点一滴，朝着国际化迈进。

《Amani》，反战歌曲，号召关注在战乱和苦难中的孤儿和难民。

为电影《莫欺少年穷》写了《不再犹豫》。

1992年，为了beyond有更广阔的发展，为了打造国际化乐队的理想，他们四人来到

人本，不过日本对于音乐制作上的严格要求加上语言不通，他们颇为消沉了一阵子；

但为了让香港音乐能在日本乐坛上发出一点光，他们仍是十分努力。

1993年，在这种情况下，创作了《海阔天空》这首充满了Beyond十年心路历程的歌曲，告诉我们在物欲横流的社会怎样坚持自己的理想，“多少次迎著冷眼与嘲笑从没有放弃过心中的理想”。

同年6月30日，黄家驹走了，留下的只是无尽的怀念和那些曾经温暖过无数心房的励志歌曲,高唱自己的爱与理想。

成功的原因：
