CityofGuizhouProvinceinsouthwestChina,locatedapproximately30kilometerstotheHuangguoshuWaterfalls.

AsoneoftheNational5AGradeScenicSpotsinChina,theDragonPalacecavesystemischaracterizedbynaturalwonderfulview,enchantingreflectionsinthewaterandmistycloudsaroundthemountain.AstheundergroundriverlocatesatoneBuyipeople’svillagenamedLongtan(dragon’spond)Village,soithasgotthenameoftheDragonPalace.

ThewholescenicspothasbeenformedbyabranchoftheBeipanjiangRiver,whichflowedundergroundintotheearthandthewatercurrentshavepassedthroughtherupturesforseveralmillionyears.With840meterslong,thePalaceincludes5cavernhalls.Itiswellknownfor"

deepcaves,oddrocks,spiritualwaterandstrangefalls"

thatlooklikeanunderwaterpalaceforlegendarygiantdragons'

living. 

StandingintheDragonPalace,theword“Long”(Dragon)wouldcomeintoourmind.Therefore,theword“Dragon”isusedfornamingmanyscenes,suchasSleepingDragonLake,theDragonGateFlyingWaterfall,ADragonPlayingwithWaterandDragonsWelcomingGuests,etc.

 

TheAnshunDragonPalacescenicareahasthemostnumberofwatererodedcavesintheworldandtheDragonGateFlyingFalls,thelargestwaterfallintheKarstcavesofChinaisseenhere.Ifyouaretravelingnearthescene,youwillfirsthearthestunningsoundoffallingwaterlongbeforeyouactuallyseethefalls,whichhasanelevationof50metersandwidthof26meters.Waterfallsdownasifafiercedragoncomingtotheworld. 

ThescenicspotalsoincludestheWhirlingPool,inwhichthewaterflowsclock-wise,thelargestBuddhisttempleincaveinChina–theKwan-yinBuddha’sCave.32Buddhastatues,includingagiantKwan-yin,aremadeveryinharmonywiththenaturalsceneryinthecave.ApartfromtheSleepingDragonBeachwithrapidstream,themirror-likeTianci(HeavenlyPond),thefirstpartoftheDragonPalacewithitsmysteriousscenesandtheimaginaryClamShellCliff,thereisalsoalandcave----theTiger’sDen,withmanyuniquelimestoneformations.Theyareworthlookingthrough.

MalingRiverCanyonisalong,deepriftcutbythesurgingMalingRiverandthegroundwater.Ithasalengthofabout74.8kilometersandanaveragedepthof200-400meters.Thenarrowestpointofitisjust50meterswide.Overlookingfromaboveitlooksjustlikeanarrowcrackwhilelookingupfromthebottomonecanonlyseeastripofthesky.Itisindeedararescene.Ithasbeengiventhetitleof'

byseasonedtravelers.

TheMalingRiverCanyonconsistsofaround100waterfalls,each100metershighormore.ThisisthelargestandmostspecialgroupoftravertinewaterfallswhichhasbeenfoundintheYunnan-GuizhouPlateausofar.ThemostbeautifulwaterfallsarethePearlWaterfallandtheRainbowWaterfall.Astheyarriveatthebottom,amistofwaterrisesandrainbowsappearinthesunshine.

Onthetwofacesofthecanyon,therearemilesofcalciumsediments.Somecalciumsedimentsarelikehangingtapestrieswhilesomearelikewaterfalls.Localpeoplecallthemcalciumtapestriesorcalciumfalls.Thesesedimentsvaryincolorandshape.Colorfulandvividpicturesformontwosides.TheplacewithmosttravertinefallsistheTianxingGallery.Intheshapeofacrescentmoon,thissitewithheavilydottedflowersissaidtobetheplacewherethestarsfalldown,hencethebeautifulname.Itistoomarveloustoimagine!
