Henotedthathikesintheretirementagehavebeenbroughtinbymanycountriesandcanbeagoodwaytodealwithanagingpopulationandcontributetothehealthyandstabledevelopmentofsocialsecurity.

ThelifeexpectancyofChinesepeopleisnow73yearsandisexpectedtoriseto74duringthenextfiveyears,hesaid.

Nearlythreeoutof10Chinesepeoplewillbeolderthan60by2040,accordingtoaUnitedNationsforecast.

TheretirementageinChinacurrently（目前）is60formenand55forwomenworkinginthegovernmentand50forfemaleworkers.

Theideaofdelayingtheretirementageisbeingwidelysupportedbythegovernmentofficials,whilemanylaborersandnon-governmentemployeeswerelessenthusiasticaboutthepossibilityofworkingforlonger.Currently,theyhavetopayintotheirpension（养老金）plansforatleast15yearsbeforetheycanretire.

ChenXianlian,afemaleworkeratamotorcyclepartscompanyinChongqingmunicipalityisamongthosewhowouldliketoseetheretirementageunchanged.“IhavetodolotsoftoughandrepetitiveworkeverydayandIfeelverytiredaftermyworkingday,”the41-year-oldsaid.“Allmycolleaguesarediscussingthegovernment'spossiblemovetoraisetheretirementage.Noneofuswantstoworkanymoreyears.”
