2在定语从句中要用下列关系代词:
(1)用来指代人的有:
who(在从句中作主语如句4或宾语),whom(在从句中作宾语如句1和句8),that(在从句中作主语或宾语)。
(2)用来指代物的有:
which/that(在从句中作主语如句3、句7或宾语如句2和句5)。
(3)用来表示所属关系的有:
whose(在从句中作定语如句6)。
3若关系代词which,that或who/whom在从句中作宾语而不作主语时,可以省略(如句1、句2和句5)一、表示时间、地点和动作的介词
(一)表示时间的介词的区别1at,in和onat后接时间点,即“在”钟点、(做某事的)时刻等,如at8oclock,atnoon等。
in后接时间段,即“在”较长的一段时间内,如inthemorning,inthefuture等。
on后接特定的日子、具体的日期、星期几、节日等。
如onMonday,onChristmasmorning等。
2since和from“since时间点”意为“自从(过去某时)以来”,表示从过去到现在的一段时间的过程,常与现在完成时连用。
from表示从时间的某一点开始,不涉及与现在的关系。
一般多与现在时、过去时、将来时连用。
Wehavenotseeneachothersince1995.自从1995年以来我们彼此未曾见面。
Ihopetodomorningexercisesfromtoday.我希望从今天开始晨练。
(二)表示地点的介词的区别1表示地理位置的in,on和toin表示在某范围内,通常指大地方。
on指“在之上”,强调和表面接触;
还表示毗邻,接壤(是相邻关系);
to指在某环境范围之外,强调不接壤,不相邻。
ChangchunisinthenortheastofChina.长春在中国的东北部。
GuangdongProvinceisonthesoutheastofGuangxi.广东省在广西省的东南边。
JapanistotheeastofChina.日本在中国的东边。
2infrontof和inthefrontofinfrontofbefore,指在某物体外部的前面;
inthefrontof指在某物体内部的前面。
Thereisatreeinfrontoftheclassroom.教室前面有一棵树。
Theboysatinthefrontofthecar.男孩坐在车的前部。
(三)表示动作的介词的区别1表示“穿过”的through和acrossthrough表示从内部通过,与in有关;
across则表示从一端至另一端从表面上通过,与on有关。
Waterflowsthroughthepipe.水从水管里流出。
Thelakewasfrozen,sowewalkedacrosstheice.湖水结冰了,所以我们从冰上走了过去。
2into和ininto表示动向,不表示目的地或位置;
in通常表示位置。
Wewalkedintothepark.我们走进公园。
Wewalkedinthepark.我们在公园里走着。
in和drop,fall,put,throw,break等终止性动词连用时,也可以表示动向。
Ihaveputthecoinin(into)mypocket.我已把硬币放进衣袋。
二、定语从句()在复合句中,修饰某一名词、代词或整个主句的从句叫作定语从句。
被定语从句修饰的名词或代词叫作先行词,连接先行词和定语从句的词叫关系词。
关系词的主要作用是连接主句和从句,同时指代或修饰先行词,并在从句中充当一定的句子成分。
关系词分为关系代词和关系副词两种,关系代词有that,which,who,whom,whose等;
关系副词有when,where,why等。
(一)关系代词的用法1that既可以用于指人,也可以用于指物。
通常在从句中作主语或宾语,作主语时不可省略,作宾语时可省略。
Thecoat(that)Iputonthedeskisblue.(that作宾语)我放在桌子上的那件外套是蓝色的。
2which用于指物,通常在句中作主语或宾语,作主语时不可省略,作宾语时可省略。
Thebuildingwhichstandsnearthetrainstationisasupermarket.(which作主语)位于火车站附近的那座大楼是一家超市。
3who,whom用于指人,who用作主语、宾语,whom用作宾语。
在口语中,有时可用who代替whom,也可省略。
ThegirlwhooftenhelpsmewithmyEnglishisfromEngland.(who作主语)经常在英语方面帮助我的那个女孩是英国人。

注意:
在从句中作介词的宾语且直接跟在介词后时,用whom,不用who。
Heisamanfromwhomweareallreadytolearn.他是我们大家都愿意向他学习的人。
4whose既可用于指人也可指物,在定语从句中作定语。
Pleasepassmethebookwhosecoverisgreen.请递给我那本绿皮的书。
(二)关系词用that不用which的情况1当先行词被序数词或形容词最高级修饰,或本身是序数词、形容词最高级时,只能用that,而不用which。
ThisisthemostinterestingstorythatIhaveeverread.这是我读过的最有趣的故事。
2当先行词为all,any,much,everything,anything,none,something,nothing等不定代词时,只能用that,而不用which。
Allthatcanbedonehasbeendone.一切能做的都已经做完了。
3当先行词被all,any,much,little,few,theonly,thevery,thelast等词修饰时,只能用that,而不用which。
Musicistheonlythingthatinterestsme.音乐是唯一令我感兴趣的东西。
4当先行词里同时含有人和物时,只能用that,而不用which。
Inhercompositionshedescribedthepeopleandplacesthatimpressedhermost.她在作文中描述了使她印象最深刻的一些人和地方。
(三)关系词用which不用that的情况1先行词本身为that时,用which,而不用that。
Whatsthatwhichflashedintheskyjustnow?
刚才在天空中一闪而过的是什么东西?
2关系代词前有介词时,用which而不用that。
ThehouseinwhichIusedtolivehasbecomeashoeshop.我过去住过的房子现在已经变成了一家鞋店。
3引导非限制性定语从句,用which,而不用that。
Hehasawalkeverynight,whichdoesgoodtohim.他每晚都散步,这对他有好处。
(四)关系词宜用who不宜用that的情况1当先行词是指人的不定代词时,如:
one,ones,anyone。
Anyonewhodoesthatmustbemad.谁那样做都一定是疯了。
2当先行词是I,you,he,they等人称代词时(常用于谚语中)。
HewhodoesntreachtheGreatWallisnotatrueman.不到长城非好汉。
3当先行词为指人的those时。
Thosewhohavegoodmannerswillbehighlyrespected.那些有礼貌的人会受到人们的高度尊重。
4在therebe结构中,先行词是指人的名词时。
