2328.1EffectivedateandScope:

2328.1.1AsforthecategorysymbolsL1andL3,thenewvehicletypesfrom2006/7/1andallvehicletypesfrom2008/7/1,shallcomplywiththisregulationandtherequirementsfordevicesforindirectvision（rear-viewmirror）regulatedintheseDirections.

2328.1.2AsforthecategorysymbolsMandN,thenewvehicletypesfrom2011/1/1andallvehicletypesfrom2013/1/1,shallcomplywiththisregulationandtherequirementsfordevicesforindirectvision（rear-viewmirror）regulatedintheseDirections.

2328.2Definition:

2328.2.1Devicesforindirectvision:

meansdevicestoobservethetrafficareaadjacenttothevehiclewhichcannotbeobservedbydirectvision.Thesecanbeconventionalmirrors,camera-monitorsorotherdevicesabletopresentinformationabouttheindirectfieldofvisiontothedriver.ThecategorysymbolsLusemirror（rear-viewmirror）abletoprovidethefieldofvision.

2328.2.1.1Mirror:

meansanydeviceintendedtogiveaclearviewtotherearandsideofthevehicle（usuallyfromrear-viewmirrorprovidethisfunction）orfront（usuallyfromfront-viewmirrorprovidethisfunction,exceptforthecategorysymbolsL）,excludingcomplexopticalsystemssuchasperiscopes.

2328.2.1.2Interiormirror:

meansadevice,whichcanbefittedinthepassengercompartmentofavehicle.

2328.2.1.3Exteriormirror:

meansadevice,whichcanbemountedontheexternalsurfaceofavehicle.

2328.2.1.4Rear-viewmirrorofthecategorysymbolsL:

meansanymirrordevicecanprovideforthecategorysymbolsL’sclearviewtotherearandsideofthevehicle;excludingcomplexopticalsystemssuchasperiscopes.

2328.2.2Driver'socularpoints:

meanstwopoints65mmapartand635mmverticallyabovepoint"R"ofthedriver'sseat.Thestraightlinejoiningthesepointsrunsperpendiculartotheverticallongitudinalmedianplaneofthevehicle.Thecenterofthesegmentjoiningthetwoocularpointsisinthelongitudinalverticalplanewhichshallpassbythecenteroftheseatingpositionofthedriverdesignatedbythevehiclemanufacturer;

2328.2.3Ambinocularvision:

meansthetotalfieldofvisionobtainedbythesuperimpositionofthemonocularfieldsofviewoftherighteyeandthelefteye.

2328.3Installationofdevicesforindirectvisionshallaccordingtosuitabletypesandrangeofprincipleareasbelow：

2328.3.4Chassismanufacturersannouncedthatthesamechassisvehicletypeseries.

2328.3.5Ifusechassisvehicleinsteadofcompletedvehicleforentireorpartialtesting,whichshallaccordingtosuitabletypesandrangeofprincipleareasbelow：

2328.3.5.2Chassismanufacturersannouncedthatthesamechassisvehicletypeseries.

2328.4Minimumnumberofmandatorymirrors:

2328.4.1Thefieldsofvisionprescribedinparagraph23.7shallbeobtainedfromtheminimumnumberonmandatorymirrorssetoutinthefollowingFigure1.Wherethepresenceofamirrorisnotrequestedonamandatorybase,thismeansthatnoothersystemforindirectvisioncanberequestedonamandatorybase.Figure1：

2328.4.2Incasethedescribedfieldofvisionofafrontmirrorprescribedinparagraph23.7.6.canbeobtainedbyanotherdeviceforindirectvisionthatisapprovedaccordingtoparagraph23.8.Otherdevicecanbeusedinsteadofamirror.

Incaseacamera/monitordeviceisusedthemonitormustexclusivelyshowthefieldofvisionprescribedinparagraph23.7.6.whilethevehicleismovingforwardwithaspeedupto30km/h.

Incasethevehicleismovingwithhigherspeedormovingbackwardsthemonitorcanbeusedtodisplaythefieldofvisionofothercamerasmountedtothevehicle.

2328.4.3Motorvehicleshavinglessthanfourwheelsfittedwithbodyworkwhichpartlyorwhollyenclosesthedrivershallbeequipped:

eitherwithaninteriorrear-viewmirrorofClassIandanexteriorrear-viewmirrorofClassIIorClassIII,whichshallbefittedtothedriverssideofthevehicle,orwithtwoexteriorrear-viewmirrorsofClassIIorClassIII,oneateachsideofthevehicle.Theprovisionsofbelowarenotapplicabletotheabove-mentionedvehicles.

2328.5Position:

2328.5.1VehicleofcategorysymbolsMandN

2328.5.1.1mirrorsshallbesoplacedthatthedriver,whensittinginthedrivingseatinanormaldrivingposition,hasaclearviewoftheroadtotherearandside（s）ofthevehicle.

2328.5.1.2Exteriormirrorsshallbevisiblethroughthesidewindowsorthroughtheportionofthewindscreenthatissweptbythewindscreenwiper.Nevertheless,fordesignreasons,thislastprovision（i.e.theprovisionsrelatingthecleanedpartofthewindscreen）shallnotapplyto:

exteriormirrorsonthepassengersideofvehiclesofcategoriesM2andM3;ClassVImirrors.

2328.5.1.3Inthecaseofanyvehicle,whichisinchassis/cabformwhenthefieldofvisionismeasured,theminimumandmaximumbodywidthsshallbestatedbythemanufacturerand,ifnecessary,simulatedbydummyheadboards.Allvehiclesandmirrorconfigurationstakenintoconsiderationduringthetestsshallbeshownonthetypeapprovalcertificateforavehiclewithregardtotheinstallationofmirrors.

2328.5.1.4Theprescribedexteriorrearviewmirroronthedriversideofthevehicleshallbelocatedsoastoformanangleofnotmorethan55degreesbetweentheverticallongitudinalmedianplaneofthevehicleandtheverticalplanewhichpassesthroughthecenteroftherearviewmirrorandthroughthecenterofthestraight65mmlinewhichjoinsthedriver'stwoocularpoints（seeFig1）.

2328.5.1.5Mirrorsmustnotprojectbeyondtheexternalbodyworkofthevehiclesubstantiallymorethanisnecessarytocomplywiththerequirementsconcerningfieldsofvision.

2328.5.1.6Wherethebottomedgeofanexteriormirrorislessthan2mabovethegroundwhenthevehicleisladen,thisrearviewmirrorshallnotprojectmorethan250mmbeyondtheoverallwidthofthevehiclewhennotfittedwiththerearviewmirror.

2328.5.1.7ClassVandClassVImirrorsshallbemountedonvehiclesinsuchawaythat,regardlessoftheirpositionafteradjustment,nopartofthesemirrorsortheirholdersislessthan2mfromthegroundwhenthevehicleisunderaloadcorrespondingtoitstechnicallypermissiblemaximumladenmass..Inthiscaseanotherdeviceforindirectvisionisnotrequested.

2328.5.1.8Subjecttotherequirementsofparagraphs23.5.1.5,23.5.1.6.and23.5.1.7,mirrorsmayprojectbeyondthepermissiblemaximumwidthsofvehicles.

2328.5.2VehicleofcategoryL:

rear-viewmirrorsmustbemountedoradjustedinsuchawaythatthedistanceofthecenterofthereflectivesurface,asmeasuredinahorizontalplane,isatleast280mmoutwardfromthelongitudinalverticalplanepassingthroughthecenterofthesteeringheadofthevehicle.Beforethemeasurement,thehandlebarshallbeplacedinthestraightaheadpositionandthemirror（s）shallbeadjustedtoits（their）normalposition.

2328.6mirror（s）shallbekeptfirmandstable.

2328.6.1IncaseofvehiclesofcategorysymbolsMandN,theinteriorrear-viewmirrorshallbesuchthatthedrivercanadjustitwheninhisdrivingposition.Theexteriorrear-viewmirroronthedriver'ssideshallbecapableofadjustmentfrominsidethevehicle,thedoorbeingclosed,althoughthewindowmaybeopen.Theformerrequirementsdonotapplytoexteriormirrorswhich,afterhavingbeenknockedoutofalignment,canbereturnedtotheirformerpositionwithouttheneedforadjustment.

2328.6.2IncaseofvehiclesofcategoriesL1andL3,mirror（s）shallbesuchthatthedrivercanadjustit（them）inthenormaldrivingposition.

2328.7Vehicle’svisionofmirrors

2328.7.1Interiormirrors（ClassⅠ）:

Thefieldofvisionshallbesuchthatthedrivercanseeatleasta20mwideflathorizontalportionoftheroadcenteredontheverticallongitudinalmedianplaneofthevehicle,from60mbehindthedriver'socularpoints（seeFigure2）tothehorizon.

2328.7.2Mainexteriormirrors（ClassII）:

2328.7.2.1Exteriormirror（ClassII）onthedriver'sside,thefieldofvisionmustbesuchthatthedrivercanseeatleasta5mwide,flat,horizontalportionoftheroad,whichisboundedbyaplanewhichisparalleltothemedianlongitudinalverticalplaneandpassingthroughtheoutermostpointofthevehicleonthedriver'ssideofthevehicleandextendsfrom30mbehindthedriver'socularpointstothehorizon.Inaddition,theroadmustbevisibletothedriveroverawidthof1m,whichisboundedbyaplaneparalleltothemedianlongitudinalverticalplaneandpassingthroughtheoutermostpointofthevehiclestartingfromapoint4mbehindtheverticalplanepassingthroughthedriver'socularpoints（seeFigure3）.
