人体自燃
人体自燃就是指一个人的身体未与外界火种接触而自动着火燃烧。
1949年12月15日,美国新罕布什尔州的一个53岁、名叫科特里斯的妇女在家中被烧死了。
警方在调查中发现,那具不像人形的恐怖尸体躺在房间的地板上,可是房间内的物体却没有遭到丝毫破坏,而且壁炉也未曾使用过,甚至在其他地方也找不到火种。
在世界其他地区亦有这样人体自燃的事例,而且自燃的形式多种多样,有些人只是受到轻微的灼伤,另一些则化为灰烬。
不过,现代科学界和医学界都否定人体自燃的说法,因为如果要把人体的骨髓和组织全部烧毁,只有在温度超过华氏3000度的高压火葬场才有此可能
