andthatmeansjobs–morethan200newworkersatthisplantalone.<

oil.HeisdirectingtheDepartmentoftheInteriortoconductannuallease
salesin
Alaska’sNationalPetroleumReserve
–whilerespectingsensitiveareas,tospeeduptheevaluationofoilandgas
resourcesinthemidandsouthAtlantic,andtocreatenewincentivesforindustry
todeveloptheirunusedleasesbothonandoffshore.Also,togivecompanies
moretimetomeethighersafetystandardforexplorationanddrilling,the
administrationisextendingdrillingleasesinareasoftheGulfofMexico
thatwereimpactedbythetemporarymoratorium,aswellascertainleasesoff
thecoastofAlaska.And,heis
establishinganewinteragencyworkinggrouptoensurethatArctic
developmentprojectsmeethealth,safetyandenvironmentalstandards.The
pastfewmonths,risinggaspriceshaveputanaddedstrainonAmerican
families.Whiletherearenoquickfixestotheproblem,thesearesteps,
alongwitheliminatingtaxpayersubsidiesforoilcompaniesandrootingout
fraudandmanipulationinthemarkets,thatareworthtaking.<
