TheRSPCA(RoyalSocietyforthePreventionofCrueltytoAnimals)isthefirstorganizationmeantforthewell-beingofanimalsanywhereintheworld.TheSPCAwassetupinLondonin1824.Atthattimeitwasconsideredstrangethatpeopleshouldcareaboutcrueltytoanimals.In1840QueenVictoriagavetheorganizationpermissiontobecalledaroyalsocietyTheRSPCA.ThesedaystherearealmosttwohundredbranchesintheUK.
