变化不再存有内在的合理性,并完全独立于过去存在,相反,变化被看作是必然、有机且渐进的,个人傲慢被伯克(EdmundBurke)式的谦虚精神和对他人、社会及世界的尊敬所取代。
自由不再单纯是没有限制,而是一种社会让个人得以繁荣发展所赋予的正面力量。

这种思想的灵感来自于一些古代学者,他们将怀疑论的观点理解得过于极端。
生于公元前四世纪的皮浪(Pyrrho)来自艾欧里亚海边的厄利斯,据说他主张人们应该停止对事物本质的判断。
