Defaultnonfencingconfiguration
InVCS5.1,whenaclusterisconfiguredbytheCPIinstallerscript,fencingisautomaticallyconfiguredandstartedindisabledmode.Whenyoudisplayclustermembership,portbforfencingcontainsallnodesspecifiedduringclusterconfiguration.
Note:
FencingisalsoconfiguredindisabledmodeafterinstallationofSFRAC5.0.WithVCS5.1,thebehaviorisnowthesameasSFRAC.
vxfentabdifferences
InVCS5.0,the/etc/vxfentabfilewasautomaticallygeneratedbyvxfenduringstartupandcontainedthepathstothecoordinatordisks.Thepathstocoordinatordiskswerediscoveredbywayofthediskgroupspecifiedinthe/etc/vxfendgconfigurationfile,whichiscreatedmanuallyinordertoconfigurefencing.Thisenablesallpathstoberediscoveredeachtimeasystemreboots.
WithVCS5.1,the/etc/vxfendgisnolongerpresentincustomizedconfigurations(mixeddiskandservercoordinationpoints).Instead,thediskgroupisspecifiedinthe/etc/vxfenmodefile.WiththenewsupportofaCoordinationPointservertofunctionasacoordinationpoint(fulfillingtheroleofacoordinatordisk),youcanconfigurefencingwithsomeornodisks.Therefore,youmaynothaveacoordinatordiskgroupaspartoftheconfiguration.
Withlegacydisk-onlybasedfencingconfigurations,the/etc/vxfendgispresentandthefencingdiskgroupisnotlistedinvxfenmode.
Thevxfentabfilealsohasnewdirectives,including:
•SecuritybetweenCPSandclientclusters
•CPSnamesorvirtualIPaddresses
ThevxfenmodefileisdescribedindetaillaterinthislessonwheretheCPserverandclientclusterconfigurationsarepresented.
