literature,physics,chemistry,medicine,andpeace.Economicswasaddedin1968,justsixtysevenyearsafterthefirstawardceremony.

Nobel'

soriginallegacy(遗产)ofninemilliondollarswasinvested,andtheinterestonthissumisusedfortheawards,whichvaryfromD|S30,000toD|S125,000.

EveryyearonDecember10,theanniversaryofNobel'

sdeath,theawards(goldmedal,illuminateddiploma,andmoney)arepresentedtothewinners.Sometimespoliticsplaysanimportantroleinthejudge'

sdecision.Americanshavewonnumerousscienceawards,butrelatively

fewliterature(文学)prizes.

ThereviewofresearchbyDanNegoianu,fromtheUniversityofPennsylvania,foundthatnotasinglestudyincludedthesuggestionofdrinkingeightglassesofwateraday.Althoughonesmallstudysuggestedthatdrinkingwatercouldresultinfewerheadaches,theresultswerenotveryimportant.However,thebenefitsofdrinkingsomewatertoprevent

apaininheadafterdrinkingtoomuchalcoholare,separately,provedtobetrue.

Nostudiesshowedanyadvantagestothecoloroftheskinbecauseoftheincreasedwatertakenintobodies.Dehydration(脱水)canmakeskinlesspleasant,buttherewasnoclearevidencetosupporttheideathatwaterhelpspeoplekeepayouthfulappearance.Theresearchersalsofoundnoevidencethatdrinkinglotsofwaterdoessomegoodtothebody'

hasliftedmorethan600millionpeopleoutofpovertyinthepast30years,accountingforabout70percentofthosebroughtoutofpovertyworldwide.ItwasthefirstdevelopingcountrytomeettheMillenniumDevelopmentGoals(MDGs)targetofreducingthepopulationlivinginpovertybyhalfaheadofthe2015deadline.“Despitetheachievements,Chinaremainstheworld’sbiggestdevelopingcountry,andnarrowingtheurban-ruralgapremainsabigchallengeforus,”Xisaid.
