摘要
俗话说:
民以食为天。
中国的饮食展示出不同的文化品味,体现出不同的使用价值,饮食文化的异彩纷呈、深厚广博吸引了来自国内外饮食者的青睐。
谈到中国饮食文化,许多人会对中国饮食与中国菜名的多姿多彩赞不绝口,中国菜名英译一直都是翻译学者关注的焦点,所以精准的菜名英译方法和策略就显得尤为重要。
本文主要依据奈达的功能对等理论研究中国菜名的英译,首先分析了中式菜肴的特点、探究了中英饮食文化的差异、指出了当今社会上广泛存在的中式菜名英译的混乱问题以及原因;
然后重点从奈达的功能对等理论讨论了中式菜名的翻译原则和翻译方法;
其次从奈达功能对等理论对菜名英译的影响做了全面的总结。
一方面,奈达的功能对等理论从语言和文化的角度缓和了翻译家们在意译和直译两种翻译方法的争论,同时也给予了翻译家们很多建设性的意见。
奈达的功能对等理论将现代语言学、交际学、信息论、符号学、美学带入了翻译领域,从多个角度对翻译进行了更细致的研究,为翻译研究提供了许多新方法,为现代翻译奠定了坚实的基础。
另一方面,奈达的功能对等理论只限于从语言与交际及读者的角度出发,忽略了交际文化的复杂性和不同语言存在的文化差异,因此我们应该运用批判和发展的眼光看待功能对等理论对翻译的影响。
