Ontheotherhand,sometraditionalviewsandvaluesarecertainlyapplicabletothemodernworld.Forexample,oldergenerationsattachgreatimportancetoworkinghard,doingone’sbest,andtakingprideinone’swork,andthesebehaviourscansurelybenefityoungpeopleastheyentertoday’scompetitivejobmarket.Othercharacteristicsthatareperhapsseenastraditionalarepolitenessandgoodmanners.Inourglobalisedworld,youngadultscanexpecttocomeintocontactwithpeoplefromahugevarietyofbackgrounds,anditismoreimportantthanevertotreatotherswithrespect.Finally,Ibelievethatyoungpeoplewouldleadhappierlivesiftheyhadamore‘old-fashioned’senseofcommunityandneighbourliness.

Inconclusion,althoughtheviewsofolderpeoplemaysometimesseemunhelpfulintoday’sworld,weshouldnotdismissalltraditionalideasasirrelevant.
