高级班要求掌握全部词汇,重点词汇能灵活运用。

1)figureout:

弄懂,弄清楚;

计算(数量或成本)

【近义词组】workout:

2.NowthatIhaveenteredmyfinalyearofcollege,IsupposeIamexpectedtolookatthethousandsofbright-eyedfreshmenwhohavemovedintotheirdormroomsforthefirsttimewithacertaindegreeofnostalgiaandenvy.

1)nowthat表示“既然,由于”的意思,that有时可以省略。

2)bright-eyed是指“眼睛明亮的”或“热情的”,意在突出大一新生刚刚入校时天真烂漫的神情。

3)nostalgia:

n.[U]怀旧,恋旧

4)envy:

n.[U]/vt.羡慕,嫉妒

3.seemlike:

看来,好像,仿佛

4.Noonehadeversaidmyfirstyearwouldbedifficulttoadjustto,orthatsometimesIwouldfeellostoranxiousorlonelyorhomesick.

1)该句中动词said带有两个并列宾语从句,其中第一个引导词that省略了,第二个引导词that不能省略。

2)adjust:

vi./vt.适应,习惯;

调整,调节

9.Inreality,Ifeltlikeeveryonearoundmesomehowkneweachother,andIwouldneverfindagroupofclosefriends.

1)feellike意为“感觉像,感受到”,可用asif或asthough替换like。

e.g.Hefeltlike/asthoughhe’drunamarathon.

此外,feellike还常用来表示“想要某物,想做某事”。

e.g.Weallfeltlikeawalkafterdinner.

10.IfeltlikeIwaswalkingaroundactinglikeafalse,giddyversionofmyself.

1)画线部分为现在分词引的导的伴随状语,再看以下例句:

e.g.Allnightlonghelayawake,thinkingabouttheproblem.

2)version:

n.[C]变体,版本

e.g.①There’retwoversionsofthegame,alongoneandashortone.

②TheEnglishversionofthenovelisdueforpublicationsoon.

【辨析】edition:

n.版本,版次

edition表示在原基础上修改、补充,大体上保持不变;

version表示某种转化过程,比如翻译。

11.alittlebit:

toasmalldegree一点点,一点儿;

12.mope:

vi.闷闷不乐,自怨自艾

n.[U](不快过后的)宽慰,解脱;

(焦虑、痛苦等)减轻,消除

16.overnight:

a./ad.突然,一夜之间

形容词后缀-free加在名词后表示“无……的,免除……的”,再如:

care-free无忧无虑的,duty-free免税的,smoke-free无烟的
