ForthreemonthsGoodallmadelittleprogress.Butshesaid,“Inevercameclosetogivingup.”Herbreakthroughcameonedaywhenshesawamalechimpanzeestickapieceofgrassintoatermite(白蚁)hill,thenputthegrassinhismouth.Afterwardshecametothehillanddidthesame.Pullingthegrassout,shediscovereddozensoftermitesonit.Thediscovery—thatsomeanimalsusetools—wasunknowntomostscientistsatthetime.

Goodallsawchimpanzeesexhibithuman-likeemotions,suchasjealousyandlove.Butshealsodiscoveredtheywerecapableofviolentattacksagainsteachother.

GoodallreceivedherPh.D.inthestudyofanimalbehavioratEngland’sCambridgeUniversity.Nowshetravelsaroundthegloberaisingmoneytopreservewildlife.“Ilovebeingintheforestwiththechimpanzees,”shesaid.“I’dmuchratherbetherethantravelingaroundfromcitytocity.”

Drivinganelectriccarcannotonlysaveenergy,butalsosavemoremoneyandtime.Forexample,itcostslesstorepair(维修)suchacar.Thecostofcharginganelectriccarisabout20percentofthecostofgas,andelectriccarsrequirelessrepairthangas-poweredcars.Thisisbecauseelectriccarshavenocoolingsystemsandtheothermovingparts.Therearefewerpossibleproblemswithoutthemovingparts.
