TerraCycledoesthisbyfirstbreakingthemdownintoseparateparts.Theymixtheremainingmaterials,suchasthetobaccoandthepaper,withotherkindsofrubbish,anduseitonnon-agriculturalland,suchasgolfcourses.Thefilters(过滤嘴)arealittleharder.Torecyclethese,TerraCyclefirstmakesthemcleanandcutsthemintosmallpieces,andthencombinesthemwithotherrecycledmaterials,makingthemintoliquidforindustrialplasticproducts.
They’renowalsoexpandingtheirrecyclingofferingstotherestofthe80percentofhouseholdwastethatcurrentlycan’tberecycled,suchaschocolatepackaging,pens,andmobilephones.Thegoalistousethelatestresearchtofindawaytostopsomuchwasteendingupinlandfill(垃圾填埋),andthengetcompaniestoprovidemoneyfortheprocess.Andsofar,it’sworking.
