stockoptions,companycars,clubmemberships,plusthekeytoexecutivewashroom.Butintoday’sglobal,morecompetitivearena,amanagersitsonaninsecureperch.Restructuringhaveeliminatedlayerafterlayerofmanagementascompaniescametoviewtheirorganizationsascollectionsofcompetenciesratherthanhierarchies.Therearefarfewerrungsonthecorporateladderformanagerstoclimb.Inaddition,managerialjobsdemandmorehoursandheadachesthaneverbeforebutofferslimfinancialpaybacksandperks.
