Inmostcases,makingprofitsforthecompaniesremainthesinglemostimportantobjectiveforcorporateexecutivesprovidedthattheirconductsstaywithinthelaw.Afterall,havingastrongandhealthycashflowisgenerallyaguaranteeforcompaniestopursuefurtherdevelopmentandthusincreasetheirmarketshares.Acorporateexecutiveisauthorized,bymajorshareholders,asthechiefmanagerinacompanytorunbusinessforthebenefitsofshareholders,namelymakemoremoneyforshareholders.Therefore,aslongastheirconductiswithinthelaw,itisnaturalthatmakingmoneycertainlyseemstheultimategoalforthem.Forexample,therearealargenumberofbusinessmagnets,suchasWarrantBuffet,SteveJobs,DonaldTrump,tonameafew,prosperingtheirownbusinessintheglobalmarket,andyetnotasingleoneofthemdoesn’tincludemakingmoneyintheirchiefresponsibilities.
Nevertheless,tobeaneffectiveandresponsiblemanager,he/sheneedstotakeintoaccountmorethanjustmakingmoney.Usuallytheexecutivealsoneedstotakeontheresponsibilityforanalyzingtherisksinvolvedinthemoney-orientedpolicywhichmaynotalwaysbebeneficialforthecompany’slong-termdevelopment,especiallywhentheeconomyisenjoyingaboom.Duetotheopportunitiesprovidedbytheboomingeconomy,businessmayseektoexpandblindly.Ifcorporateexecutivesaremerelymoney-oriented,theymayoverlookthepotentialhazardsinmakingmoney.Forexampletheymayseektoincreasemoreliabilitiesandupgradetheirmarketsharesduetothepositivepicturetheeconomygivestothem,hopingtomakeasmuchmoneyaspossible-------adangerousandrecklessapproachwhichcouldresultsinovervaluingthecompaniesstrengthandoncethemarketcrashes,bankruptcymaybedoomedtocome.The2008financialcrisismayproveagoodexample.Beforetheeconomicdownturn,everythingseemsjusttoogood:
