Intheheartofthewoodstherelayacool,greenpond.Ontheshoresweretallbullrushes(芦苇)thatwavedinthewind,andintheshallowbayswerebroadwaterlilyleaves.Therealsolivedagroupoffrogs.
Oneverywarmnight,thevoicesofthefrogscheerfullyarose.Somevoiceswerelowanddeep—thesewerefromtheoldestandwisestofthefrogs.Somewerehighandshrill—thesewerefromthosewhodidn’tliketorememberthedayswhentheyhadtailsandnolegs.
