Underthesituationoflackingthenecessitiesofhislifeandnoguaranteeofhissafety,Robinsonlivedonanisolatedislandfortwenty–eightyears,andfinallyrescued.Howdidhesurvive?

Basedonthestudyoftheoriginalandrelatedbooks,IwillexplainthecausesofRobinsonsurvived.Introuble,hedidn’tgiveuphope,stillhardwork,innovation,persistence,andeventuallycreatehisownlife.Inthismoney-centered,high–speedeconomicboomtimes,peoplewillinevitablyencountersomedifficultiesandfrustrations.Somepeoplecangooutofadversity,andturnastumblingblockintoasteppingstone,whilesomepeoplemaylosetheirheart.Theirattitudesdeterminewhethertheycanovercometheadversityornot.Throughanalyzingthereasonsofdealingwithadversityimproperly,summarizethewaysofdealingwithadversityproperly.Withthehelpoftheseways,peoplewillovercomeadversityandcreatetheirownsplendor.

TheauthorofRobinsonCrusoe,DanielDefoe,wasborninagoodcommercialfamilyin1660inLondon.Hewasonceabusinessman,whorantheenterpriseofunderclothes,cigarettesandwinetrade.Hehadlivedthroughsomedifficulties,buthecouldsavehisenterpriseeverytimeafterhisfailure.Meanwhile,heshowedushisstabledeterminationtofightagainsthisfate.Hecouldnotbedestroyed.AllofthoseexperiencespavedthewayofthoughtandtechniqueoftheaccomplishmentofhismasterpieceRobinsonCrusoe.Thatis,thesuccessofRobinsonCrusoeisnotoccasional.Itwasnotuntil1719,attheageofsixty,thatDefoepublishedthefamousnovel.Itwasatonceimmenselysuccessful,andlaunchedhimonanewcareerasanovelist.ItissaidthatbesidesBible,RobinsonCrusoeisthemostpublishedbook.Today,thebookhasbeenregardedasthefirstlongfictionintheworld.Defoe’sinfluenceontheevolutionoftheEnglishnovelisenormous,soheisrememberedasthefirstimportantEnglishnovelistandagreatimaginativewriter.(WangSongnian,2002:

ItiswellknownthatRobinsonCrusoeisagreatcharacterbyDanielDefoe.ThoughRobinsonisafictitiousgreatperson,hetellspeoplethetruththatweshouldconfronttheadversityproperly.RobinsonCrusoe’slifeisfulloflegends.HewasborninagoodfamilyinthecityofYork.Ashisfathersaid,“Itwasthebeststateintheworld,themostsuitedtohumanhappiness,notexposedtothemiseriesandhardships,thelaborandsufferingsofthemechanicpartofmankindandnotembarrassedwiththepride,luxury,ambition,andenvyoftheupperpartofmankind”.(DanielDefoe,2003:
