一、公证书标题的翻译
一般来说，公证书翻译为“notarycertificate”。
要注意，切忌将公证书翻译成“notarialcertification”。
公证书标题必须全部大写或大写标题中每个单词的第一个字母。
除非位于局首，公证书标题中的冠词（articles）及少于5个字母的连词（conjunctions）、介词（prepositions）不应大写。
在具体应用中，涉外公证书翻译工作量最多的往往是：
毕业证公证书（notarizationofdiploma）、学位证公证书（notarizationofdegreecertificate）、成绩单公证书（notarizationofacademictranscription）、亲属关系公证书（notarizationoffamilyrelation）、婚姻状况公证书（notarizationofmaritalstatus）、无刑事犯罪记录公证书（notarizationofnorecordofcriminaloffense）、及（涉外）收养公证书（notarizationofadoption）等。
二、公证词的翻译
我国公证书公证词多以“兹证明?
?
”开头，其英文翻译（englishequivalent）应该是：
“thisistocertifythat?
”。
而外国公证书公证词开头一般为“我，xxxx，xxxx公证员，特此证明?
”（i,xxxxx，notarypublic,dulyauthorised,admittedandsworn,practisinginthecityandcountyofdublindoherebycertifythat?
）。
4.公证词翻译应忠实于原文（conformity）
在结尾方面，中国公证书一般为“特此证明”，翻译为“itisherebycertified”。
而外国公证书结尾一般为一段宣誓这类的语句，如“infaithandtestimonywhereofihavehereuntosetmayhandandaffixedmysealofofficethis10thdecember2008”。
这段公证词翻译成中文比较费解，一般来说采用意译更符合中国国情，翻译成“我宣誓，上述公证属实?
特别注意，英文公证词结尾在描述日期上不使用“on”这个词。
三、涉外公证书的落款
涉外公证书翻译落款须注明：
公证员（notary）姓名和签名（signature）或盖章（seal）；
公证处名称及盖章；
“中华人民共和国”（thepeople’srepublicofchina）字样；
日期。
日期的格式一般为月/日/年。

公证书应包括的内容有：
（1）公证书编号；
（2）当事人的基本情况；
（3）公证证词；
（4）承办公证员的签名（签字章）、公证处印章和钢印；
（5）出证日期等。
英文公证书的格式比较规范，一般来说，公证地名写在左上方，须全用大写字母，ss.（或ss.）写在地名中间。
这个缩略语的意义不详，有人认为它代表拉丁字cilicet，表示towit或namely（“即”），也有人认为它有其他来源及含义。
公证书正文应和地名相隔三行。
