Icheckedthechartaftertheclerkhadfinishedregistering（登记）thefamily.Noaddress—theywerehomeless.Thewaitingroomwaswarm.IlookedoutatthefamilygatheringclosetogetherbytheChristmastree.Theyoungestonewaspointingatthetelevisionandsayingsomethingtohermotherexcitedly.TheoldestonewaslookingatthedecorationsontheChristmastree.
Iwentbacktothenurses’stationandmentionedwehadahomelessfamilyinthewaitingroom.Thenurses,complainingaboutworkingonChristmas,turnedtocompassion（同情）forafamilyjusttryingtogetwarmonChristmas.Theteamwentintoaction,muchaswedowhenthere’samedicalemergency.ButthisonewasaChristmasemergency.
WewereallofferedafreemealinthehospitalcafeteriaonChristmasDay,sowetookbackthatmealandpreparedalargemealforourChristmasguests.Weneededpresents.Weputtogetherorangesandapplesinabasket.Wecollectedfromdifferentdepartmentscandies,crayonsandotherthingsavailablethatcouldbepresents.Asseriouslyaswemetthephysicalneedsofthepatients,ourteamworkedtomeettheneeds,andexceedtheexpectationsofafamilywhojustwantedtobewarmonChristmasDay.
