OnMay28th,1998Iwasdrivingmy13-year-olddaughterand14-year-oldsontoschool.Unfortunatelymycarcrashedwithatruck.Allthreeofuswerecriticallyinjured.Stacey’sbraininjurywasthemostsevere.Despiteallattemptstosaveher,shediedtwodayslater.WhenIbecameconscious,Iheardmyhusbandtalkingtotheorgandonorcoordinator(器官捐助协调员).

WeknewthatStaceywouldwantthatbecausethat’sthekindofpersonshewas.Shealwayswantedtoassistpeople.Shewasalwayssmilingandbroughtsomuchjoytoothers.Shewasfriendlyandenjoyedwritingstoriesandpoetry.

IthasbeenacomforttoknowthatStaceylivesoninthelivesofothers.IhaveevenmetthefamilyofoneofStacey’skidneyrecipients(接受人).Thislittlegirlwas6yearsoldatthetimeofthetransplant.ShewassufferingfromNephroticSyndrome.IsawpicturesshowingtheeffectsoftheNephroticSyndromeandthepicturesofherafterthetransplant.Theyalreadyshowedanamazingdifference.Wecorrespondeveryyearthroughletters,cardsandpictures.Thegirlisdoingreallywellatschoolandwillbegraduatingfromhighschoolnextyear.Iamsogratefulthatwehavethisrelationship.Ialsofeelrelievedthatmydaughterhasmadesogreatadifferencetoaperson’slife.

Overtheyears,Ihavehadsomekindofcontactwithalloftherecipientsexcepttheheartrecipient.I’mverysorryforthat.Iwouldlovetohearsomethingfromtheheartrecipient’sfamily.TherearesomanythingsthatIwonderabouther.IwonderifsheisanythinglikeStacey.Doesshesmileallthetime?
