straditionalappearance,withawhitegoateeandstar-spangledsuit,isaninventionofartistsandpoliticalcartoonists.OneofthesepoliticalcartoonistswasnamedThomasNast.NastproducedmanyoftheearliestcartoonsofUncleSam.
