BACKGROUNDANDSUMMARY[0002]Improvementisdesiredintheconstructionofenginesorthelikethatgeneratesteam.

[0003]Thedisclosureadvantageouslyprovidesacavitationengineconfiguredtoproducesuperheatedsteam.Thecavitationengineincludesapre-heatedimpactchamberconfiguredtoreceiveinjectedfluid,suchashyperbaricwater,injectedatsupersonicvelocitiesandinamannertomaximizetheformationofbubblesintheinjectedfluid.Theimpactchamberisconfiguredtointeractwiththeinjectedfluidtopromotecavitationoftheinjectedfluidandgenerateveryhighpressure.

DETAILEDDESCRIPTION[0016]Withreferencetothedrawings,thedisclosurerelatestoasteamengine,andinparticulartoacavitationengine.Thecavitationengineproducessuperheatsteambyinjectinghyperbaricwateratsupersonicvelocitiesintoaspeciallyconfigured,heatedimpactchamberconfiguredtopromotecavitationoftheinjectedwaterandgenerateveryhighpressurethatcanbeusedtogenerateelectricityorotherwisedharnessedasanenergyoutput.Theimpactchamberisinitiallypre-heatedto375degreesF.Oncetheengineisoperating,theenergysuppliedforthepre-heatingmaybeceased,asthetemperatureoftheimpactchamberwillremainabove375degreesFduetotheoperationoftheengine.

[0017]Cavitationreferstotheformationofvaporcavitiesinaliquid.Thevaporcavitiesarecharacterizedassmallliquid-cavitation-freezonesinthenatureofbubblesorvoidsthataretheconsequenceofcavitationalforcesactingupontheliquid.Cavitiationoccurswhenaliquidissubjectedtorapidchangesofpressurethatcausetheformationofcavitieswherethepressureisrelativelylow.Whensubjectedtohigherpressure,asinthecaseofthecavitationengineaccordingtothedisclosure,thevoidsimplodeandgenerateanintenseshockwaveandhighpressure.

[0018]Inaccordancewiththedisclosure,whentheinjectedwatercollideswiththeimpactchamberwallashockwaveoccursandthewaterisshatteredandinstantlytransformedintosuperheatsteam.Thecavitationenginehassubstantiallyimprovedefficiencyascomparedtoconventionalsteamengines,suchasconventionalexternalcombustionRankineCyclesteamboilers.

[0019]Ithasbeenobservedthattheangleofincidenceandtheproximityoftheimpactsurfacewallarecriticaltothefunctioningofthecavitationengineofthedisclosure.Thetypeofelectronicpiezofuelinjectorutilizedtoejectthewaterfractionpreferablyhasinjectororificesorientedatsuchanangletotheimpactchambersurfaceastoproduceanearlyperpendiculartrajectory.Thisgeometryisshowninthecross-sectionalviewsoftheimpactchamber,suchasFIGS.2-4.Thisgeometrydesirablyproducesveryhighwaterhammerpressureduringcollisionofthewaterfraction
