摘要
电影《8英里》是由柯蒂斯•汉森执导,艾米纳姆主演的一部半自传式电影,上映于2002年。
这部电影主要记录了出身于底特律的年轻人吉米•史密斯的个人经历一一他是一位蓝领工人,也是众多黑人嘻哈歌手中另类的白人。
面对来自工作、家庭和感情多方面的压力,他用嘻哈音乐来表达对生活的愤怒和不满,试图跨越种族和个人的身心障碍,勇敢表达自己的个性。
嘻哈音乐及嘻哈文化是起源于贫民社区,并由黑人青年主导的亚文化。
因此阶级、种族与性别是围绕嘻哈文化被讨论较多的话题。
电影《8英里》将音乐与这些话题结合在了一起。
本文采用身份建构理论,通过从阶级、种族和性别关系这三个角度研究电影《8英里》中主角吉米•史密斯的行为表现,尝试说明音乐可以被看作是身份的隐喻。
论文的第一章从嘻哈音乐与社会阶级关系说起。
影片主角与他的朋友们都出身于底特律贫民区,生活环境较差。
他们通过说唱这种方式描述生活的现实。
论文的第二章讨论了嘻哈音乐与种族的关系对主角身份建构的影响。

8Mileisasemi-biographicalmoviedirectedbyCurtisHansonandstarringEminemwhichreleasedin2002.ThisfilmtellsastoryaboutayoungmannamedJimmySmithfromDetroit.Heisablue-collarworker,aswellasawhiterapperwhichisunusualinhip-hopfield.Hehasmuchstressfromwork,familyandemotion,soheuseshiship-hopmusictoexpresshisrageanddiscontent.Hetriestostepoverbarriersofraceandmentalitytoexpresshimselfcourageously.
Hip-hopmusicandhip-hopculturecanbeseenassubculturerootedfromslumsanddominatedbyyoungAfrican-Americans.Suchissuesasclass,raceandgenderareoftendiscussedwhenitcomestohip-hop.Movie8Milecombinesmusicwiththesetopics.AnalyzingtheprotagonistJimmySmith'
sbehaviorandpresenceinthemovie8Mile,fromtheperspectivesofclass,raceandgenderinidentitytheories,thisthesisaimstoarguethatmusiccanberegardedasametaphorofone'

ChapterOneisgoingtotalkabouthip-hopmusicandsocietyfromtheperspectiveofclass.Inthemovie,protagonistJimmySmithandhisfriendsarealmostfromtheslumsinDetroitandliveinbadcondition.Theyraptheirlives.ChapterTwoisgoingtodiscussidentityconstructionfromhip-hopmusicandrace.JimmySmithisawhiteman,andthisisthemostobviousconflictinhip-hopfieldandinthemovie.ChapterThreeisgoingtoresearchfromtheangleofsexualitybyanalyzingfemaleimagesinthismovieandgenderissuesinhip-hopmusic.
