Selfmanagement,theseconddimensionofEmotionalIntelligence,alsohelpsdecreaseourstress.Selfmanagementisourabilitytopreventthewavesofournegativeemotionsfromrisingtoohigh.Anexampleofselfmanagementiskeepingoursadnessorangerfromreachinganintensitywhenwecannotfunctionandworknormally,andwhenitcanevenbepainful.
