AbstractEveryorganizationneedstohavewelltrainedandexperiencedpeopletoperformtheactivitiesthathavetobedone.Thusemployees’trainingisnotonlyanactivitythatisdesirablebutalsoanactivitythatanorganizationmustcommitresourcestoifitistomaintainaviableandknowledgeableworkforce.TheconceptofTraininghaschangedfromthetimeitgotevolved.Thedeliverymethodologyisextremelyimportant,asthesuccessofthetrainingisdirectlyrelatedtothemethodologyhandledinthetrainingprogram.

1.INTRODUCTION

Conductingtrainingprogramsintheorganizationisbecomingmorecrucialthesedays.Everyorganizationwantedtheirpeopletogrowwellbothintermsoftechnicalskills&behaviouralskills.Everyonewillnotknoweverythingwhentheygetintotheorganization.Withexperience&effectivetraining,anemployeegetstheknowledge&willstartincorporatingthingsintheworkplace.Withouttrainingthejobbecomesmonotonous.Thustomaketheworkmoreconducive,trainingisbecomingmoremandatory.Trainingisaprocessoflearningasequenceofprogrammedbehavior.Itisapplicationofknowledge.Itgivespeopleanawarenessoftherulesandprocedurestoguidetheirbehavior.Itattemptstoimprovetheirperformanceonthecurrentjobofpreparethemforanintendedjob.Trainingiseverythingthatisdonebyandforstaffsinordertomaintainanextendtheirworkrelatedknowledgeskillsandcapabilities.Trainingisatechniqueaimedatimprovingwhattheorganizationisdoing,byimprovingtheskillsofindividualandteams.

2.THEMAJORPURPOSESOFTRAINING

ToImproveProductivity

Purposefulinstructioncanhelpemployeesincreasetheirlevelofperformanceontheirpresentassignment.Increasedhumanperformanceoftendirectlyleadstoincreasedoperationalproductivityandincreasedcompanyprofit.Again,increasedperformanceandproductivity,becauseoftraining,aremostevidentonthepartofnewemployeeswhoarenotyetfullyawareofthemostefficientandeffectivewaysofperformingtheirjobs.

ToImproveQuality

Betterinformedworkersarelesslikelytomakeoperationalmistakes.Qualityincreasesmaybeinrelationshiptoacompanyproductorservice,orinreferencetotheintangibleorganizationalemploymentatmosphere.

ToHelpaCompanyFulfillitsFuturePersonnelNeeds

Organizationsthathaveagoodinternaleducationalprogrammewillhavetomakelessdrasticmanpowerchangesandadjustmentsintheeventofsuddenpersonnelalternations.Whentheneedarises,organizationalvacanciescanmoreeasilybestaffedfrominternalsourcesifacompanyinitiatesandmaintainsanadequateinstructionalprogrammeforbothitsnon-supervisoryandmanagerialemployees.

Intheearlydaysthetrainingmethodologywasmoreintoclassroomsession&theystartedusingComputerSystemsinmid90sforconductingsessions.Intheclassroomsessions,thefacilitatorwilltalk&peoplewouldbelisteningtoit.Hardlypeopleweregivenachancetospeak.Whencomputersystemswereused,peopleweremoreinclinedtowardsknowingitasitwasanewtrainingconceptforall.

4.2.TheELearningEra

Oncethecomputerswereusedinthetraining,therewerelotsofassociationswhocamewithanELearningmethodologyforlearning.Heretheparticipantscanlearnfromanywhere.Initially,participantswereforcedtositatonceplace&sessionswillbeconductedbyafacilitator.ButintheELearningmodules,theparticipantsweregivenaflexibilityoptions.Thusitwasmuchmoreflexible.Thismethodisfollowedevennow.

4.4.CollaborativeTraining

Veryfewtrainerswhoarecompetent&havingagreatcommandintheirdomainarecomingintothismethodologyoftraining.ThisisdonemoreontheExperientialLearningbasis.Itisthecombinationofalltheaboveways.Heretrainersdonotteach.Theyfacilitatetheparticipantstocomeoutwiththeirownlearningoutcome.Thusparticipantswillbesatisfiedbygettingtoknowwhattheywanted.Mostofthetrainersarerelayingontheconventionaltypeoftrainingprogram.Thiscollaborativemethodisveryeasyfortheparticipantstounderstandtheconcept.Theprimefocusofconductingthetrainingprogramistomaketheparticipantstounderstand&getthereturnoninvestmentforthetimetheyhadspent&fortheamounttheorganizationhasspent.

5.TRAININGDELIVERYMETHODS

Thetrainingdeliverymethodologyhaschangedfromthetimeofinception.InitiallyitwasonlythroughtheLecturesystems.Peoplehadnooption,thansittinginthehall&listeningtothelecture.Peoplemakenotesfromtheinformationsaidbythespeaker/trainer.Anythingtobespecified,thetrainerswereusingthewhiteboardtosignifythesame.

Thenwhensomeinformativebookscameinthemarket,peoplestartedshowinginterestmoreinthisastheycandoreadingatanypointofit.Theystartedmakingnotesevenfromthis&usedthelearningattheappropriatesituations.

ThentheAudioVisualmediumcame.Alongwiththelecture,trainersshowsomevideos&powerpointpresentations.Thiswasinculcatinglotsofinteresttowardsthesubject.Itwasalsoeasyforpeopletounderstand.

IntheDemonstrationmethod,itwasmorelikeshownonhowithastobedone.MostofthefieldslikeMedicine,Chemical,Mechanical,etc..,undergothedemonstrativemethodtomakesurethelearningreachestheaudienceatitsbest.
