5)ThomasEdison(1847----1931)Hewasalreadyaninventorofotherelectricaldevices(phonograph,electriclightbulb)whenin1882hedesignedasystemforprovidingNewYorkwithelectricityfromacentralpowerstation.Thiswasatremendousachievement,whichhadpreviouslybeenthoughtimpossible.
6)LeonardodaVinci(Italian)(1452-1519)HewasafamousItalianartistwhoseskillforshowinghumanskintonesmadehispaintingsseemtocomealive.Heusedtostudydeadpeopleinordertomakehispaintingsasaccurateaspossible.Someofhisfamouspaintingsinclude“TheAdorationoftheMagi”andthe“TheLastSupper”.LaterinhislifehelivedinFrancewherehedesignedasubmarine(潜水艇)andaflyingmachine.
7)British.Hedidresearchintodifferentgasesanddiscoveredthemedicalvalueofnitrousoxide(laughinggas)asananaesthetic.(麻醉药)In1815hedevelopedasafetylampforminers.
