Thepreparationofthetestspecímenshallbeinaccordancewíth180/0186507四1.

Thisoperationandthesubsequentpreparationofthesurfaceshallbecarriedoutcarefullysothat

thehardnessofthesurfacetobetestedisnotaffectedmetallurgically.

Thesurfacetobetestedshallbeproperlypreparedandpreferablyetched,sothataccurate

measurementsofthediagonaloftheindentationscanbeachievedinthedifferentzonesofthe

weldedjoint.

6Testprocedure

6.1Rowsofindentations(R)

Fi♀ures1to3giveexamplesofhardnessindentationsmadeinrowsincludingthedistancefrom

thesurfacesothattheserowsorpartsofthempermitanassessmentoftheweldedjoint.If

requiredbythecontractingparties,additionalrowsofindentationsand/ordifferentlocationsmay

bemade.Thelocationshallbestatedinthetestreport.

Inmetalssuchasaluminium,copperandtheiralloys,therowsontheroot-sideofbuttwelds(see

fi♀ure1)cannotbenecessary.
