Formorethan100years,RensselaerPolytechnicInstitute,inconjunction

withhighschoolsaroundtheworld,hasawardedtheRensselaerMedalto

promisingsecondaryschoolstudentswhohavedistinguishedthemselvesin

mathematicsandscience.

TheMedalwasfirstpresentedin1916withtwopurposes:

torecognizethe

superlativeacademicachievementofyoungmenandwomen,andtomotivate

studentstowardcareersinscience,engineering,andtechnology.

Thismeritscholarship,withavalueof$25,000peryear,isguaranteedfor

fouryears（fiveyearsfortheB.Arch.programortheCo-TerminalProgram）for

eachmedalistwhoisacceptedandenrollsatRensselaer.

Eachparticipatinghighschoolisallowedtoselectonememberofthe

juniorclasstobehonoredwiththeRensselaerMedalAward.Theresponsibility

fordesignatingtheRensselaerMedalistbelongstofacultyandstaffwithinthe

secondaryschool.Onceschoolofficialshavemadetheirselection,theyshould

submittheirchoiceonlineviathepassword-protectedmedalwebsite.

OncetheselectionisreceivedatRensselaer,anawardcertificateis

mailedtotheschoolforpresentationataschoolassembly.Ifthestudent

applies,isaccepted,andenrolls,theofficialRensselaerMedallionwillbe

presentedduringHonorsConvocationinthefallofthefirstyearat

TransferScholarships

Rensselaerofferstransferstudentsawiderangeofaidoptionsandastaff

offinancialaidprofessionalswhowillworkwithyoutodevisethebest

solutions.

Inanefforttodistributefundsequitably,itisRensselaer’spolicynot

tocombinemultiplemeritscholarshipsinanyonefinancialaidaward.Students

whoreceivetheRensselaerMathematicsandScienceAward（theRensselaerMedal）

inhighschool,orwhohavealreadyearnedabachelor’sdegreearenoteligible

forthesescholarships.Specialmeritscholarshipswillbeincorporatedinto

need-basedpackagesiffinancialneedisdemonstratedbytheFAFSAandCSS

PRO.

Unlessotherwisenoted,allthescholarshipsbelowprovideaminimumof

$18,000peracademicyearandarerenewable.Generallyspeaking,themaximum

numberofsemestersastudentmayreceivetheawardisdependentonthe

individual’screditsthattransfer.Forexample,astudentwhowouldbe

transferringasajuniorwouldreceive4semestersofeligibility,6if

participatinginourCo-TerminalProgram.

Thisscholarshipisforthetopstudenttransferringintoanon-engineering

scienceprogramatouraffiliatedcommunitycolleges.Generally,theawardis

ThisannualscholarshipisawardedtothequalifyingAfricanAmerican,

Hispanic,orNativeAmericanstudentwiththehighestcombinedaveragein

mathematicsandscienceateachofourtwo-andfour-yearaffiliated

colleges.

PhiThetaKappaSocietyScholarship

PhiThetaKapparecognizesintellectualachievementinAmericantwo-year

colleges.AllThetaKappaSocietytransferstudentswhoareacceptedand

subsequentlyenrollatRensselaerPolytechnicInstitutewillreceivethe$5,000

annualscholarship.

PLEASENOTE:

IfastudentearnsmultipleRensselaermeritscholarships,the

universitywillawardthehighestmeritawardforwhichthestudentis

qualified,butdoesnotcombinemultipleawards.TotalRensselaerprovided

scholarshipsand/ortuitionbenefitsmaynotexceedtuition.
