offtherecession.EvenAmericannewspapers,whichinhabitthemosttroubledcomeroftheglobal

Ithasnotbeenmuchfun.Manypapersstayedafloatbypushingjournalistsoverboard.The

AmericanSocietyofNewsEditorsreckonsthat13,500newsroomjobshavegonesince2007.

Readersarepayingmoreforslimmerproducts.Somepapersevenhadthenervetorefusedelivery

todistantsuburbs.Yetthesedesperatemeasureshaveprovedtherightonesand,sadlyformany

journalists,theycanbepushedfurther.
