Earlyinhersecondterm,justasthingswerelookingalittlebetter,shefacedanotherproblem—astrikebytheBritishMinersUnion.Onceagain,theIronLadystoodhergroundtostopthelongeststrikeinthecountry’shistory.
In1982,ArgentinasaidthattheyhadownedtheFalklandIslandssincethe19thcentury.Britain,however,consideredtheislandstobeoneoftheiroverseasdependentterritories(领土).MargaretThatchertriedtotalkabouttheproblemwithArgentines.ButArgentinesdidn’tagreewithherideas,soMs.Thatcherdidwhatanystrongleaderwoulddo—sendintheBritishArmy.Ittook74days,andon14thJune1982,theArgentinearmyfinallyfailedandBritaincontrolledtheFalklandIslandsagain.
