Heartdiseaseisoneofthemajorkillersintheworldtoday.Manywhosufferfromitmusthavehearttransplants(移植).However,it'sdifficulttogetasuitableheartdonation(捐赠),andevenifapatientsurvivesthewait,hisorherbodyoftenrejects(排斥)theheart.

Butthereisnownewhopeforsufferersofheartdisease.AccordingtoastudypublishedinthejournalAdvancedScience,researchersfromIsrael'sTelAvivUniversityprinteda3DhumanheartonApril15.

“Thisisthefirsttimeanyoneanywherehassuccessfullyengineeredandprintedanentire(整个的)heart,”ProfessorTalDvirtoldCNN.

Unliketheprevious(原先的)3Dprintedheartstructure,thenewheartiscompletewithcells,bloodvessels(血管),chambers(心室)andotherstructuresaheartneedstofunctionnormally.Butscientistsstillhavemoretofigureoutbeforethe3Dprintedheartcanbefittedintothebody.Foronething,theexperimentalheartisonlythesizeofathumb.And,althoughitcancontract(收缩)likeamuscle,itcannotpumpoutbloodlikearealone.Atpresent,theheartprototype(样品)islikeatinyairplanethathasalloftherightparts,butcan'tfly.

However,thedevelopmentisstillregardedasamajorbreakthroughinmedicine.

Intheexperiment,theresearchersturnedhumanfattissue(脂肪组织)intohumanhearttissuewithstemcell(干细胞)technology.Thetissuewasthenturnedinto“bioink”fora3Dprintertoensurethattissueintheheartcamefromthepatientsthemselves.Soideally,ifitweretobeplacedinthebodyofsomeoneinneedofatransplant,therewouldbelessriskoforganrejection.

“Patientswillnolongerhavetowaitfortransplantsortakemedicationstopreventtheirrejection,”researcherstoldUSAToday.“Instead,theneededheartwillbeprinted,fullypersonalizedforeverypatient.”

Butthescientiststhinkthat3Dprintingcanbeusedtocreateotherhumanorgans.Theyforeseeatimewhenthe3Dprintingoforganswillbeaneverydaymedicalpractice.

“Maybe,in10years,therewillbeorganprintersinthefinesthospitalsaroundtheworldandtheseprocedureswillbeconductedroutinely(常规地),”Dvirsaid.
