  SteppingintotheLingxinggate,thereisacourtyardwithtoweringpinesandcypressesandgreengrass.ThereareafirepoolandastelePavilionontheleftandright.Thefirepoolisusedtostorewatertopreventthebuildingfromcatchingfire.Itisalsousedbybelieverstoreleaselife,soitiscommonlyknownasthefirepool.OntheeastsideofthepavilionistheinscriptionofrebuildingNanyueTemplewrittenbyShangHu,theMinisterofstateoftheMingDynastyduringtheChenghuaperiod.OnthewestsideofthepavilionistheinscriptionofofferingsacrificestoHengyuewrittenbyfanChunrenoftheSongDynasty.

  NotfaralongthemiddleroadisKuixingPavilion,thesecondbuildingonthecentralaxisofNanyuetemple.KuixingPavilion,alsoknownasPanlongPavilion,isapeakbuildingwithdoubleeaves,coveringanareaof139squaremeters.Inthepavilion,thereusedtobeastatueofKuixing,theheadofWenxing,toshowrespectforliterature.Manyparentswhowanttobesuccessfuloftencomeherewiththeirchildrentopray.

  ThereareBellPavilionanddrumPaviliononbothsidesofKuixingPavilion.TheBellPavilionontheleftusedtoputa4500kgbell,andthedrumPavilionontherightusedtoputa2mdrum.Theancientsbelievedthataslongasthebellsanddrumsweresingingtogether,theDragonKingcouldbesubdued,sothathewouldnotdaretostiruptrouble,soastoensurethestabilityofthecountryandthepeople.

  Thesecondcourtyardofthetempleisnotlongindepthbutwideincrosssection.Ontheeastsideofthecourtyardis"XuandeZungate",whichconnectstheeightTaoisttemplesontheeastwingofthetemple;onthewestsideis"sixtempleswithonegate",whichconnectstheEightBuddhisttemplesontheWestWingofthetemple.Inthecenterofthecourtyardistheimperialstelepavilionwithoctagonaldoubleeavesandsharproof,whichisthefourthbuildingonthecentralaxisofthetemple.Theimperialstelepavilionwasbuiltin1707,the46thyearofthereignofEmperorKangxioftheQingDynasty,inwhichstandstheQingshistele"recordsofrebuildingNanyueTemple"writtenbyEmperorKangxi.Thesteleis6.6metershighandweighsabout2000kg.Ithas279characters,whichdescribestheprocessofrebuildingNanyuetempleunderEmperorKangxisdecree.Thetopofthemonumentiscarvedwithareliefoftwodragonsholdingthesun,andthebaseisa20tonbluestoneturtle.Thewidestpartofthetemple.
