It'saformofvocalpercussion(人声打击乐)usingonlyone'smouth,lips,tongueandvoice.
Beatboxingisabigpartofmodernhiphopculture.Besidesdrumsounds,beatboxingcanbeusedtosing,imitate(模仿)arecordplayerandmakesoundslikedifferentmusicalinstruments.
Althoughthemodernformofbeatboxinggotitsstartinthe1980s,usingyourvoicetoimitatepercussionsoundshasbeenpopularforalong,longtime.HistoriansbelievepeopleinIndiaandChinadevelopedtheirownformsofvocalartseveralthousandyearsago.
Beatboxingasweknowittoday—sometimescalledhumanbeatboxing—becamepopularintheearly1980s.BeatboxingpioneersincludedDougE.Fresh,whosaidhewasthefirst“humanbeatbox,”Swifty,BuffyandWise.
Besidestheirvoicesandmouths,somebeatboxersusetheirhandsandotherpartsoftheirbodiestocreatemoredifferentrhythms.Theterm“beatboxing”camefromthefactthatearlybeatboxingtriedtoimitatethefirstdrummachines,whichwerecalledbeatboxesatthetime.
Today,beatboxingispopularallovertheworld.Manycountrieshavetheirownbeatboxingorganizationsthatorganizenationalbeatboxingcompetitions.Therearealsoworldwidebeatboxingcompetitionsheldinternationallyeachyear.
Thepopularityofbeatboxinghasalsoledsomepeopletoorganizelargebeatboxingensembles(合奏)inordertosetaworldrecord.ThenewGuinnessWorldRecordforthelargesthumanbeatboxensembleis6,430peoplesetinHungKong,on26June2017!
