Abouthalfofthe4,611adultswhotookpartinthesurveyhadheardaboutecigarettes,whicharebatterypowered,orrechargeablecigarettesthatvaporizealiquidnicotinesolution.Theydonotproducesmokebutawatervaporwithoutsmell.SoldmostlyontheInternet,ecigaretteswerefirstmadeinChina.

LastyeartheWorldHealthOrganization(WHO)warnedagainstusingecigarettes,sayingtherewasnoevidencetoprovetheyweresafeorhelpedsmokersbreakthehabit.TheWHOsaidpeoplewhosmokeecigarettesbreatheinafinefogofnicotineintothelungs.
